And this is Miss Nancy saying hello to all the boys and girls here and to all of our friends at home who hasn't heard a Romper Room. And I know you remember Miss Nancy and has passed and went straight up. It's o'clock, 1:00, 2:00. And the cat robber room has been and still is probably the most well known children's program in the world. When everybody said, well, when it gets to Japan, it's going to be lamp or doom. But it wasn't it wasn't her English was better than mine. It was Romper Room. Nancy was born in Baltimore City and grew up in the area before graduating from Park School in the county. This is her a bit later with her baby daughter who would grow up to become Romper Rooms. Miss Sally, Thank you very much, Daddy. The show was broadcast live In those days and with children, anything could happen and sometimes did. And one little kid raised his hand and he said, Miss Nancy, I have to go and I'm doing it right now. And the kid next to him, when he was sitting in a puddle, you know, I mean, that happened on the air. Remember this part? There's a good friend at home named Kathy, our producer, The Blade does. She's vice president of Plastic TV Productions and she's still selling Romper Room. Let's. Mr. Dorsey video, if you please. Ladies and gentlemen, meet Alma Ward, the castors babe. And the one question she's asked over and over. Are you the cast of Baby? And I have to laugh because people tell. I know the cast of Baby now that my Lord, she was the castors baby until the packaging changed. Then she became the caster twins. So you have to read that went back and we looked at several photographs and some old news clippings. I'm a one the most beautiful and perfect baby contest When she was 11 months old and with her father's permission, the bakery used her photo with a little retouching and some color at it. He was born and raised in the Park Service. Yeah. And when he came to work for Channel 13, he was hired as a weekend announcer. And this is back in the days when they would sign on at 10:00, sign up at 12, transmit test pattern in tone from 12 until four, then sign back until 4:00 and then sign off at 8:00 because it couldn't compete with radio. Well, it wasn't long ago before he began doing everything political reporting for variety shows, telethons, commercials, of course. And then Mr. Pop wailing and talking to all of you out there every Monday through Friday at 455 on TV 13. The trick, however, was to change quickly from a kid's show character to a newsman.
