Originally, the idea was to have the tactical team back up patrol officers on any call that might involve a handgun to try to get the guns off the street. Since then, the program has expanded, and if statistics are any indication, then it's a big success. Since the program started, police have made 349 arrests and confiscated 75 guns. There's no way to measure the crime they've prevented.
