They've heard it at least five, six hundred times. Oh, is it? Nice stuff, isn't it? Real nice day today. real my state. it looks like uh... it's gonna be with us today and tomorrow but then it looks like for the weekend i see this four -letter word in the forecast just again saturday night and sunday snow close up alright we'll talk about that in just a second today it's going to be one fine really decent day today uh... and temperatures still in the thirties now but climbing's you know really rapidly we're starting to get some thermal heating here and warm air is coming over the area we're in for a decent day right now on t .v. hill it's thirty three degrees two degrees warmer out in southeasterly winds at five balmy breezes blowing up from the shores near hatteras humidity forty six percent barometer thirty thirty eight holding steady here's a look at your tides a low tide seven fifty four high tide twelve fifty seven sunsets night five twenty eight p .m. all right the instant eye out a short time ago up in the air we're getting a little layer of hazes matter of fact uh... almost looks like spring or summertime shot at noon The hay shouldn't be too bad. Air quality at noon reported. moderate in the city not expected to go any higher. Let's take a look at the radar. This is Sky Eye Live, ground clutter, no precip expected. That's all junk up there. We're not worried about any shower activity till tomorrow night. Let's take a look at Sky Track, the satellite photo, and I'll show you what's going on. First off, high pressure down here to the south and you see this band of high clouds stretching from New York and Pennsylvania all back toward Lake Michigan. This is this warm air starting to move over the area and it looks like the clouds will all be north of us. A lot of times you get the warm air overrun where cold air and warm air hit. and you get these clouds forming but it looks like that overrun is now occurring well to our north we should say uh... stay in sunny skies throughout much of the afternoon it's okay fine and dandy the warm air moves up over us by tomorrow we've got a cold front and it's going to be moving our way and it's starting to pick up a decent amount of moisture ahead of it uh... this was the infrared picture you'd see shower activity online from texas up through arkansas through missouri on into illinois and it looks like more moisture will be picked up by this frontal system as it moves in an easterly direction. So we're starting to think about a more actually better night. Fringe clouds will start moving in. It's moving rather rapidly caught up in the jet stream. Fringe clouds will start moving into the area as will shower activity. Now let's take a look at tomorrow's map. By this time tomorrow, the frontal system itself will be lying just between Cumberland and Frederick and moving in an easterly direction. Tomorrow is not going to be a great day, but because of the clouds and the wind still prevailing not from northwesterly direction, temperature should still be in the upper forties or fifties. But By tomorrow night, once the frontal system passes, we're going to get into a tricky situation. Area of low pressure now sliding just west of Lake Superior. This is going to do one of two things. It's either going to slide down to here, attach itself to the bottom of the cold front, and as the frontal system moves along the coast, so will this area of low pressure. And you know that song and dance. Problem Saturday night into Sunday. Or the area of low pressure stays up to the north. and we just get another simple frontal passage Saturday night into Sunday. Either way, things aren't going to clear out until at least Monday, but we could be looking for some slight problems here Saturday night into Sunday. Of course, we do. Ron Riley's AccuWeather forecast Saturday evening. We'll have all the details. Don't worry about it yet. Sunshine today and blue skies, a lot of warm temperatures. Here's your forecast. Let's make it official. Highs of 45 to 50 degrees today. That's all right. Tonight, warmer than the past few nights. Overnight lows tonight, 32 degrees. Tomorrow looks to be a cloudy day, a couple of hours of rain in the area, but a warm day highs from 48 to 50 degrees. By the way, Puxa Tawny Phil came out of his little burrow today. They brought him a girl too, by the way. What do you mean? Puxa Tawny Phyllis. They shipped her in from the Philadelphia Zoo. That's the inspiration to come out. Phil came out of his burrow with Phyllis. They saw their shadow, said six more weeks of winter, and both of them went back down into the burrow. Probably won't be seen for at least six months. Here's Joe Cartione. Make marmalade and you'd like to make it out of the bitter orange which is also known as the Seville orange. Unfortunately there are not too many of these bitter oranges being harvested and most of those that are being picked are being sent to British Columbia. But folks I do want to tell you there are some very nice kumquats available and they surely make a good marmalade. Well the kumquats are not only good for marmalade they're good in many other ways and folks I have a nice little leaflet here with five different ways of showing you how to prepare kumquats. If you'd like to have it, kindly send me a self -addressed stamped envelope, 4 by 9 inches long. Mark the outside of the envelope, kumquats, and I'll be very happy to send it to you. Thanks for watching! Now, folks, you can also eat kumquats fresh out of hand, but you certainly have to know how... You have to do something with them before you do that. Now, what you have to do with a kumquat is pick it up in your hand and you squeeze it. I don't know whether you saw that oil come out of there. You see that spray of oil, and it settles back on the kumquat. Now, the oil is sweet, the skin is sweet, the flesh is sour. You pop this in your mouth and you chew it up, and you get that sweet and sour taste, and I think you're gonna like it. Jerry, this Saturday, the first annual, this is going to be quite a thing, the first annual Baltimore Bartender's Ball is going to be held at the Hilton Hotel downtown. $50 per person from nine to two includes open bar dinner, buffet and dancing, music by the admiral Steve Smith and the Naked's and Nard's Rock and Roll Review. Tickets available at many, many restaurants and bars in town and it's all to benefit United Cerebral Palsy, an excellent event. a wild party. It's going to be a lot of fun. Let's take a look at our current conditions in the city. We have generally clear skies. We're freezing now, 32 degrees. The winds out of the east, northeast, a light, 7 miles an hour. Humidity, 76 percent. The barometer is dropping a little bit, 30 .23 inches. The tides set our eyes. Sunset for tomorrow. Tomorrow will be a cloudy, especially by afternoon, wet day. It'll be warm, so We're not looking for any snow. In fact, there won't be any snow in the east except way up in portions of Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine tomorrow. In this city tonight, one of the most beautiful buildings you might find anywhere, the observatory, the beautiful greenhouse at Druid Park, the conservatory, excuse me, at Druid Park, at the park really, right next to the zoo. Lovely place. There are banana trees in there and cactus, and it's a great place to escape the cold in winter. The blahs go right in there, and it's about 75, 80 degrees. all the time, very lovely. Let's take a look at our national radar. Things have changed quite a bit. And the rain activity we saw earlier over portions of Iowa and Wisconsin is now moving to the east, shifting to the east. This is our frontal system and this shower activity is gonna move into our region tomorrow afternoon and tomorrow night. Locally, not much in the way of precipitation. In fact, we have clear skies, nothing at all in the way of rain here in the Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania region. 29. Thanks for watching. See you next time. In Martinsburg, 44, Charlottesville, 48, Morgantown, they were 50 early, they hadn't dropped very much. 27, Harrisburg, 42 in Norfolk, 38 in Richmond. Eastern Shore, 39, Salisbury, 31 up in Wilmington, Winsomar, southerly component, 10 to 20 miles an hour, that brings in moisture and warmer air. Our cloud cover tonight, there's that system. Moving in from the west, getting a little closer, now into portions of eastern Ohio. The clouds will increase tomorrow morning. Look for showers after three o 'clock tomorrow afternoon. and into tomorrow night. And then the system moves off. Some cooler air will start moving in this weekend. It looks like the weekend is going to get progressively colder as a series of cold fronts, as we see on tomorrow's map, begins to move across the United States. Here's the first one, goes through tomorrow. By Saturday, a second cold front and yet a third cold front will go through on Sunday. It's going to get colder as the weekend progresses. Some snow flurry activity, perhaps in some of the high elevations up in New England tomorrow and a good chance by Saturday and Sunday with this next cold air that moves in. now. For you folks who are interested in skiing, it's real simple. Up in the northeast, every place that I could find has excellent skiing with all trails open. They got some new snow this week. They've had enough cold weather for the last couple of days to make snow, and they'll be getting some more snow, turning colder with some mountain snows over the weekend. Looks real good for skiing here in the Mid -Atlantic states. Pennsylvania, Maryland, West Virginia, and Virginia resorts all reporting excellent conditions. All trails open, even though it's gonna be mild with a little bit of rain tomorrow. It shouldn't destroy the bases too much. The weekend, they'll be making some more, and it should be real good. Let's take a look at our five -day forecast. Clouds, and then rain tomorrow. 46, some rain early tomorrow night. Then a lot of clouds on Saturday. As it turns a little cooler, we could see some snow flurries by the evening Saturday. Some snow flurries likely on Sunday, with some sunshine also. 36, but dropping the highs Monday and Tuesday. Upper 20s to near 30 degrees. It's gonna get real cold again early next week. Mostly clear, rain developing later on tomorrow. Early in the morning, 32, but. Moving up to the mid -upper 40s by afternoon. Jerry, that's the way it looks.
text/plain
https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/144432/file/266938#t=2726.51,2961.37
https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/144432/file/266938/transcript/77131/annotation/96
Speaker 17: All right, Robert, and thank you for the ski report.
