It's a true story. It's seven o 'clock in the morning. We're here for the next two days. Well, we got it. I remember we were talking to Jerry on the phone, he was telling us about the ice flows coming ashore at Ocean City, Albert was in Columbia on the phone with us, he couldn't find his car. And didn't want to. That's right. anyway so uh... quite a different story i'm telling you hazy and hot today we got up to eighty nine degrees folks i got news for tomorrow we're gonna slam in the ninety four degree temperatures temperatures throughout the week should stay in the lower nineties uh... if it gets down to like eighty nine degrees you can call it a cold snap we have a little chance of some cooling on thursday as the remnants from elaine come through but otherwise conditions throughout the week and it can be likely were late hazy hot humid chance of an afternoon thundershower very very sound more like. A little summer -like sport going on. Oak Glen A is taking batting practice out at the stadium, or fielding practice, depending upon where the camera's pointing at the time. 89 in the city, 88 in the suburbs. Winds now from the southwest at nine miles an hour. Humidity 54%, barometer 30 .07. It is going down. Here's your tide. Sun sets tonight, 7 .35. Rise tomorrow morning, 38 minutes after the hour. 6 o 'clock on the bay. Water temperature, 75 degrees. Winds west. 10 to 15 knots, no advisories whatsoever expected. All right, here's the way the situation's coming down. We've got a big, massive Boilermaker high pressure, almost akin to the Bermuda highs that we see during the middle of the summer. It is firmly locked over the Carolina coast, almost where that return is over the ocean. Firmly locked here, and we are in a very slow, slow flow of warm, humid, sticky, heavy, summer -like. I could have thrown a few more inches in there. Summer like air coming all the way up from Dixie and this really is going to be the weather pattern for about the next five days. Statewide right now, temperatures warm, it's going to be a warm muggy evening just about everywhere. You may be watching this right now. 84 degrees in Oakland, 88 degrees in Carmelin, 85 degrees in Harrisburg and Philadelphia, 82 degrees in Dover, 81 degrees in Ocean City, 86 degrees in Salisbury. It's going to be a very sticky, humid, hazy night. I can't emphasize that enough and get used to it. It's really gonna be here. about the next five days take a look at our cloud cover map looks like we're gonna have a frontal passage come through the middle of the week wrong this is not gonna happen so dominant is this high that it's actually going to force this front to stop pretty much over Lake Michigan and it's gonna start to die off here's the warm front obviously due to that flow of southerly air here's the remnants of Elena she is gonna kind of make it into the area Thursday just as an area of low pressure some a few showers moving through the area put the map in motion notice how that front goes absolutely nowhere it starts to die off. Elena makes slow progress toward us and this high just has not moved. Once Elena passes on by, no cool air is going to be drawn down behind the low. We're still going to be into the sticky, hazy, muggy, summer -like, and there's two or three more inches I could have, you understand. 69 degrees tonight, tomorrow is going to be a warm day. Look for some sunshine, warm humid conditions, high of 94 degrees, and I will tell you this, for about the next five days there will be a chance of an afternoon thundershower just about every day we look at the five -day forecast here just about a half hour
text/plain
https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/144447/file/266967#t=1273.4,1459.76
https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/144447/file/266967/transcript/77127/annotation/73
Speaker 1: Albert picked a good week to be away. Police tonight are looking for the person who shot and killed Charles Wilson of Baltimore. Wilson was gunned down in what police believe was a robbery attempt. On June 19th, 1985, at around 5 in the morning, Wilson stepped into a phone booth at the corner of Bonner and Wilcock Street in northeast Baltimore. He dialed a friend and began to talk. Within a few minutes, a man approached the booth and asked Wilson how long he was going to be on the phone. Wilson answered, about 10 minutes. The intruder then told him to empty his pockets and then opened fire. Wilson dropped the phone and fell to the ground. When police arrived at the scene, they found him dead from gunshot wounds. The state now puts the number of unused hospital beds at 2 ,600. The annual cost of maintaining just one hospital bed is estimated at $122 ,000. So we're talking about some very big money here. And I know there are people who want to keep these hospitals open and who are worried sick over the loss of hospital jobs, and that's a legitimate worry. But I have a question. In a matter of weeks now, the weather will be changing. In all kinds of weather, we have untold hundreds of people on the street, utterly homeless. But in the winter, our concern for them goes up as the temperature goes down. Many of these people have psychiatric backgrounds. Many have physical problems brought about from years out in the elements. The community has never had adequate facilities for these people.
