Basically it's not on the streets we're talking about mostly accumulation on branches and grassy areas however you could experience some slippery areas while you're traveling around early in the morning no real need for a panic though the sun is up and sun is pretty much burning a lot of that off take a look at first warning radar as we're talking this morning really no precipitation. Around the area falling as we speak really the ranges are kind of moved on through we had electrical storms last night uh... At some point so i mean it's just been a real mixture of stuff but it's getting better you know and uh... Towards the end of the week heli will be up near about seventy degrees while snow early you know really spring will be here pretty late but for today just know that is going to be a little bit slippery some lingering uh... Showers and snow showers and some rain falling especially towards the west as we start to really... Get the sun up and cooking. 34 degrees is our temperature now. We get up to a high today only of about 46 and with the wind blowing it'll probably feel more like about 40 degrees and then tonight we drop down. But I guess here in Baltimore you kind of learn to expect anything. Now I was out on the roads last night driving home and out in this when it started snowing. So basically it was a wet snow and it was just like driving in the rain. The roads were fine and this morning I was out as well, no problems, did cross a bridge and it a little slick but nothing major. Most of Baltimore City and County and surrounding areas looks a lot like this, about a half an inch to an inch of snow. Now, the salt trucks were out all night last night. No major problems, just a few accidents. Apparently, in Hartford County, there were some problems. No roads were closed, but apparently, the area north of Bel Air is, they were telling us it's considered hazardous, and they have also had more fender benders in that area. The salt trucks are still working there in Hartfield County, but for the most part, in the other counties, they have called it a day. And we'll, as you can see probably, why it's not that bad out here. The traffic behind me seems to be moving. Along very nicely. As a matter of fact, I think some of these people might even be driving a little faster than 55. So no problems this morning when you get out this morning on the roads, Kelly. I call this like the perfect snow day, don't you, Kathy? Oh yeah, because it's beautiful, looks great, but it's not that cold. Basically, this is the computer model for what it looks like today and for the next 12 hours. Basically, you'll see that we are really the only area in the country that has any precipitation to speak of, and we haven't had any all winter. We wait until the first weekend of spring to get any snow. We're looking at rainfalls and snow accumulations for March of just about an inch officially, but this has just pushed everyone over the edge. And of course, as Kelly said, places are, you know, individual pockets are adding up different amounts. Westminster I guess you're about seven inches now if you have six inches now we had about an inch of rain so far This is on top of that look for about seven in Westminster The city really only has about one to one and a half inches of accumulation of any kind of precipitation for March so far and all of that has been for the most part the last three days Take a look though as we move on in you'll see that this basically is a system that's going to move on off The area this has moved on up is moving on up the the coastline Basically, places like Boston, just south of Martha's Vineyard, everyone there is getting snow. They're still under snow advisories. But we are seeing the residual of it, just patchy showers just moving on around. This is what it looks like in actual terms. This is the mid-Atlantic radar. It's giving you an idea that it's dissipated pretty much over much of the area. But you can see, just as you get up towards Philadelphia and as it moves on into New York, you're seeing the precipitation still in full force, just kind of spiraling off the area, These are the temperatures we're waking up to this morning. 34 degrees, everyone right around the freezing mark until you get down a little south of Baltimore, of course, Washington and Richmond, just around 40 degrees. Hagerstown just over, freezing at 33, so is Harrisburg, Wilmington at 32, Atlantic City at 32 and Ocean City at 33. Dover at 32. Then we move on into the metro area, you'll see Annapolis down around 32, Glen Burnie at 34, 34 here in the city. Reisterstown and Mount Airy, both right around 31. So everyone is just going to be that way until the sun starts to really get into full mode, which it is doing now. It's out, it's the skies are blue for the most part and the streets will start to dry off. But just expect that there could be some a.m. Drizzle some just patchy snow showers out towards the west. If you're in Garrett or Allegheny counties here in the city, though, not too much to speak of. Clouds will break for some sun in the afternoon and then this evening it gets windy, a little blustery will call it and high of about 46 degrees with a slight wind chill, probably feel more like 40. Tonight, partly cloudy, no precipitation in the forecast. Brisk and chilly with light wind. Dips down though to a low of just about 29 degrees. The search for survivors of the devastation continues today. We had a caller say that there was up to six inches in west minster of course we're getting reports of about three inches in garrick and alagany counties with all that said take a look right now we'll move on and show you what the conditions are like on the ocean in the bay waves on the oceans uh... Or seas on the ocea rather five feet with the winds from the northwest at twenty the wind uh... Is gusting up to about twenty five making it uh... Necessary to put a small craft advisory in effect on the ocean. However, there is no advisory on the bay. Northwesterly winds of just about 15 with waves only about two feet. So if you plan on taking the small craft out, it won't be a horrible day, but we'll be a little gusty from time to time. We are about 10 degrees under where we should be for this time of year. We waited until spring. We were about 5 to 10 degrees over the norms all winter long. Here we are in spring. We've only got 42 of BWI yesterday, 44 in the city. The normal for this time of the year is 56 temperatures at night, though, are right where they should be just about 33 degrees. You know, we'll take the good with the bad. Today we'll be basically seeing the last part of AM drizzle and flurries. I'll move on out here and let you take a look at this. It will be a little blustery. Clouds break for the sun this afternoon. Although we have clouds above, come on up to the satellite and I show you a little bit of a break just south of the city here, but notice we're gonna be dealing with some clouds. There's baltimore right there, but the clouds as this system slowly lifts on out of here will be breaking. And I do think we're gonna have a mixture tomorrow with sun inching its way through the clouds as the day moves on. 37 degrees, our temperature right now. We will go below freezing tonight. I think we'll get down to around 29 to 30 degrees for overnight low, but by and large we're not expecting any freezing icing conditions. You know all the precipitation that fell is pretty much dried up now, so no problem is expected for Monday morning. Today our temperature it was below normal. 44 degrees 48 on the downtown thermometer. Both of those numbers significantly below the 56 where we should be. At this time of year, it's been a mild winter, but so far this spring, the few days of it that we've had have been below normal west winds on the Bay 8 to 16 knots in the water temperature. Thomas Point light at 42 degrees. Here's a satellite view showing that storm system now pretty well wound up exiting up over New England. Like I said, having dropped a foot of snow in some spots. Frontal system extending down here, but see this little area of clouds that has moved down in here, kind of disappeared for the moment. This area of cloud and this little disturbance will be traveling along through to Carolinas and offshore. And as it does, it could spread some light snow and a mixed bag in here Tuesday morning into Tuesday midday. Not looking for any heavy snow out of this, but that's the one little hitch in the weather this week as that comes along Tuesday. It may give us a little wet snow early in the morning as I said, but beyond that, a warming trend will take hold tomorrow. However, to start out the week, it's going to be another rather cool one. 48 is our expected high in Baltimore, little warmer to the South and a little cooler to the North. Not too surprising there tonight. The clouds are around partly to mostly cloudy skies will continue a rather chilly overnight low of 29 degrees. And for Monday, then sunshine and partly cloudy, sort of a mixed bag there tomorrow, 48 for our Monday high. But check out the five day forecast. After that disturbance goes by on Tuesday, a warming trend that will carry us to the upper sixties by Friday. That's pretty nice. Now we get some good springtime temperatures in here at the end of the five Day period. But right now it's looking like Monday is going to be another rather below normal day, but at least some sunshine.
