Oh that's right. Yeah. This is. This is his handiwork. All right. It is 530 on Monday morning. Marty Bass is on vacation. He was on vacation last week. If you call that, he will be away. This week, my my half hour script. Oh, it's good to have some news eventually. Yes. But. Yeah. How are you doing? Okay. Nice day outside. Little cool little. Yeah, actually. Really quite nice outside. We've had such a string of these. It's almost beginning to become routine right now, but, our temperature at the moment, what do we find here? 58 degrees on the downtown monitor and 52 degrees out outside the beltway. So 53 on my car thermometer coming across town. There you go. Right inside the starry skies. Go out and check out Orion again. He's laying on his, left side in the eastern. That's right. Still holding that fleece and, got the sword. So it's got a fleece. Fleece? Yeah. How do you think it keeps warm in the wintertime? In the wintertime? Constellation. I knew that, but I didn't realize he had a fleece. That's right. And it's not spelled like the guy who had to train. It's. Oh. Irwin. Right. Not Orion. Right? Oh, Brian. Yeah, whatever I got you. I thought you meant fleece. I thought that was a trade name. Please. Excuse me, excuse me. Now I'm confused. All right? He's confused. Let me see if I, confuse this issue. Go ahead. Check out your temperatures around the area right now. There's our 52 degrees, the suburban temperature, as I said, a little bit warmer down in the city, but, very comfortable. Cool morning. At the moment, just about everybody in the 50s.","format":"text/plain"},"target":"https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/136377/file/252963#t=20.86,107.14"},{"id":"https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/136377/file/252963/transcript/71309/annotation/2","type":"Annotation","motivation":"transcribing","body":{"type":"TextualBody","value":"Actually, Wilmington. I wouldn't be surprised to see some of the more distant suburban areas, perhaps out in that region, check in with upper 40s before we actually get to sunrise and warm things up a bit today, though, those clear skies. Yeah, this morning will give us lots of sunshine today. It's going to be another nice day if you like. Yesterday, I think you're going to like today. We're looking for a high temperature of, only 78 degrees. Really nice for this time of year. Overnight low tonight down into the mid 50s under clear skies. Another nice, delightfully cool night tomorrow. Looks like it's going to warm up a little bit now. I wouldn't be surprised to see a few clouds around from time to time, but still plenty of sunshine. A warmer day tomorrow we will get to the mid 80s or so. As far as threats to the clear skies go, no precipitation at all threatening our area. Little activity out in the high Plains. We're actually it's been fairly warm these days. And down along the coast, right now, activity down a little along the Florida peninsula. But as we see with the satellite view, we've been in basking in just gorgeous weather for certainly the weekend. And even beyond that, if you remember back into the last workweek, here is that ridge of high pressure right along the, axis from New England, all the way down into the midsection of the country. And that is the real weather story and has been and will continue to be through today. Between the high and the low, it's been spiraling down cool air. And that will be with us today. Thank you. Well past 533. Here's what's happening news wise. This morning a light plane almost crashed into the white House overnight. Investigators say the plane went down on the South Lawn and came to rest against the side of the white House actual building, around 230 this morning. The president's family, of course, were not inside at the time. They're staying across the street at Blair House while the white House undergoes some restoration work. Bomb squads are currently combing the plane's wreckage to make sure there weren't any bombs aboard. It is too soon to tell. We're told whether the pilot was purposely heading for the white House or not. The airspace around the white House, of course, is strictly off limits to aviation. The pilot did die in the crash. Locally, a bus accident in Aberdeen overnight has left a number of people injured. Police say around one this morning, a Peter Pan Trailways bus was traveling southbound on Interstate 95 when it hit a pole as it was exiting onto a ramp leading to the Maryland House restaurant. The restaurant is located in the rest area between the northbound and southbound lanes of the highway. A passenger on the bus describes what he saw. We basically went off the road. We hit a pole back here. I don't remember. Is I just in the bus? I just kind of, like, went down and I remember, like, glass.","format":"text/plain"},"target":"https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/136377/file/252963#t=199.87,289.74"},{"id":"https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/136377/file/252963/transcript/71309/annotation/4","type":"Annotation","motivation":"transcribing","body":{"type":"TextualBody","value":"Everything falling out when the bus finally stopped. Southbound I-95 was closed for a short time after the accident, but has since reopened. Police should learn more today about the mysterious death of a baby in Hamden. April Schaefer told police she was driving in Hamden on Saturday when she turned to check on her six month old son, Jeremy, in the backseat and realized he was unconscious. She stopped the car and tried to give the baby CPR while someone else called 911. Police questioned both mother and the baby's stepfather, but let them go. A search will resume this morning for survivors of an apparent boating accident at Plum Point, near Chesapeake Beach yesterday. Rescuers say they found the body of a woman near an overturned boat on the bay. The boat's hull had a large hole in it. The Coast Guard continues to investigate this apparent accident. Good morning everybody. Week two of the National Football League season and Norv Turner of the Washington Redskins. The rookie coach finally gets his first win. State police are now reporting all the lanes are open as you're building south from the Aberdeen ramps at route 22. So good to go there. I think tomorrow you'll notice a little bit warmer. Still plenty of sunshine, maybe a cloud or two around tomorrow, but still lots of sunshine. We'll get into the mid 80s. And that begins a trend that I think will carry us into the 90s. Actually by Wednesday. No threat of precipitation around the area at all right now. There have been some showers down along the Gulf Coast and in Florida this morning. They're all in Florida and that's been where the precipitation has been occurring. Take a quick look at the satellite view, and you'll notice a big ridge of clear air dominating a good bit of the eastern half of the country. And this is going to continue to dominate. We don't have our serious threat of precip in the forecast until possibly Wednesday. Ridge of high sitting right here. This coupled with the low has been cranking down this cool, dry Canadian air, keeping us in just delightful early autumn weather. And we're going to have another one of those days today. More or less on time. Good morning, good morning, good morning. Hey, first of all, let me say this is the first back to school Monday of now and then new schedule. We're on Mondays and Wednesdays now, and I think it would be fair to say that the show is designed to get the folks up and out and get them going in the morning, and, but but a couple of times a week now and then sort of takes a slow trip down memory lane just into nostalgia. And that's the way it's going to be this morning. Several about a month or so ago, I did a, I did a thing on the Canting Company, the Baltimore Museum of Industry, got the entire collection down there, and we and we took a look at the collection. Okay. Today we're going to take a look at the cat and company a little bit more of the company itself and the impact it had on the growth of the city. All right. So Mr. Dorsey, video, if you please. The War of 1812 became a great victory for the States, but during that war many people realized how important it had become to build a manufacturing base for the new country and not to rely on imported goods from England. It took a few years, but in 1830 Peter Cooper had come down to build the Tom Thumb railroad engine for the BNL. And that's how they started this idea of developing canton as an industrial community. Folks, me, Dennis Ambala, executive director of the Baltimore Museum of Industry and the man in charge of putting all this together. I asked him, in his opinion, what impact did the Canton Company have on the growth of Baltimore? Well, it coincided with the Industrial revolution in this country.","format":"text/plain"},"target":"https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/136377/file/252963#t=3145.36,3246.97"},{"id":"https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/136377/file/252963/transcript/71309/annotation/33","type":"Annotation","motivation":"transcribing","body":{"type":"TextualBody","value":"And so it made Baltimore a great industrial city and created the kinds of jobs that were available to immigrants, brought immigrants from all over the world, and also from rural areas of Maryland, Virginia, and other parts of America. So what started off as a couple of farms in East Baltimore grew to an industrial complex of over 2000 acres. One of the first companies was Abbott Ironworks. They rolled the plates where they got turned off to monitor. I asked dentist at the company's peak. How many people did they employ? Well, I would say probably half of East Baltimore was employed in one or another of the industries that was controlled by the Canton Company. He said at least 100,000 people work there. It included all the docks, all the wharves of East Baltimore. At one time, there were thousands of longshoremen just working, unloading and loading ships. The Canton Company is gone now, but there are some traces of its glory days. Men still find work here, but mainly canton has become a residential area. So if you get a chance, come on down and take a look at what's left. Well, there is still something to see here. Tremendous boom in real estate. So some of the old warehouse warehouses too, of course. And it's looking good. Bad warhorses. Where they store supplies. Are you talking about the war or supply? We brought you back to reality in that time before the War of 1812. I'll get you out of this, Don. I'll get you out. I'm sorry. It's cold in here, you know. This morning our medical minute returns and we are pleased to welcome the newest member of our Eyewitness News family, as we say, Healthwatch reporter Kelly Lynn, who has some tips about school lunches. Good morning. With students heading back to school, parents should be concerned not only about what kids are learning over the next few months, but what they're eating. Even if you pack a healthy lunch for your child, he or she may not necessarily eat it. Many kids swap items in their lunch for less healthy foods from their friends. And what's worse, if your child doesn't like what you've packed, it could wind up in the trash to make sure your children eat the right food, include them on the trip to the grocery store, and as you shop, think of alternatives like a nutritious sandwich on a bagel or pita bread, graham crackers with peanut butter, low fat cheese cubes with apple wedges, or even air popped popcorn.","format":"text/plain"},"target":"https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/136377/file/252963#t=4659.23,4761.29"},{"id":"https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/136377/file/252963/transcript/71309/annotation/48","type":"Annotation","motivation":"transcribing","body":{"type":"TextualBody","value":"Let your child pick out healthy foods, and a little bit of junk food is okay to remember everything in moderation.
