I think the worst of it for the Baltimore metropolitan area is probably over and we'll look at radar in a minute to show you what's basically coming in from the western regions right now. In the city now, cloudy skies and a light rain, nothing heavy here in the city, 74 degrees, humidity way up there at 86 percent, the wind southwest at around 12. The barometer is unsteady. 30 .06 and the air quality in the moderate range at 59 this afternoon. Tides tomorrow. Sunrise 611 sets at 814. Much needed rain in the area and this is a live shout out in Randallstown. Not raining very hard right now in Randallstown, but certainly plenty of lightning a little bit early on this afternoon as the storms move through the region. Let's take a look at how these storms develop this afternoon. We've been tracking them all afternoon. Here's Baltimore. A lot of storms around 4 o 'clock. Now watch them grow actually westward during the next hour or two. They're expanding a little bit eastward. But basically, they're starting to grow out to the west. And watch this. As we move on through the late afternoon hours, they've expanded well out to Frederick County. So parts of the area from Baltimore west have been receiving rain for about two hours at least. And now the heaviest activity has really kind of slid down. through Howard County into western Anne Arundel County and actually over parts of Prince George's County in the D .C. area. This is live right now. The heaviest stuff is now south of Baltimore and it continues to move to the south and southeast. Probably will miss much of the Baltimore city area, although we have some rain over the region, but it's not heavy right now. Looking due west of our region, we do have some moderate rain activity, which will probably move through the city within the next two hours. I do expect maybe an hour or two of rain this evening. much -needed let's take a quick look at our north scan pardon me take a look at our satellite picture which shows the clouds around the region and they're in scattered fashion through the central part of maryland up through pennsylvania and it clears out over virginia west virginia another little band of thunderstorm showers over extreme western virginia just a popping up everywhere in this warm humid air mass once this area of showers and thunderstorms move through tonight tomorrow i think the chances of showers will be lessened somewhat as this is a Thanks for watching! uh... convergence zone that developed over our region today a little bit of instability and once that gets through actually we'll get into some uh... fair weather over the great lakes tomorrow we'll be moving into our region let's take a look at tomorrow's map which will show you basically not a whole lot of change we'll still be under a southwest flow very warm humid air another funnel system starting to form across the great lakes late tomorrow this system has a little bit of strength with it and some drier air slightly drier air will have enough forced to move in here. sunday night and monday monday looks like a pretty decent day lower humidities temperatures a few degrees cooler we got up to near ninety degrees today this weekend will be hot let's take a look at the state map right now temperatures are on the warm side except where the showers are located temperatures have dropped into the seventies comfortable ranges winsome out of the south seven eighteen miles an hour eighty nine richmond getting some showers right now generally upper seventies to mid seventies in our region and to the eastern shore mid eighties because it hasn't yet rained there You folks will probably see some showers. after nine or 10 o 'clock tonight. Here's our forecast for the rest of tonight. Still got some thunderstorm activity in the region and looks like to the south, southwest, and west of Baltimore, some of the rain could be locally heavy. 64 to 74 degrees tonight. Tomorrow then, hazy, hot and humid, a slim chance, slimmer than today, of an afternoon thunderstorm. 93 to high, low tomorrow night, 68 to 73 degrees. So we'll get some much needed rain. Here in the city, I do not expect it to be of the heavy variety, but there could be some lightning and some thunder over the next couple of hours. The worst of it for us then is basically over.
text/plain
https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/144426/file/266926#t=1360.29,1593.61
https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/144426/file/266926/transcript/77135/annotation/77
Speaker 8: barring anybody getting hurt from bad weather. So far, though, not too good. There is thunder and lightning and rain. Unfortunately, this is Brooks Robbins tonight at the stadium. He is being honored, of course, for being inducted into the Hall of Fame last Sunday. A big ceremony is planned, starting at 720. Fireworks after the game, if there is a game. And of course, lots of guest speakers, like Dave McNally and Mark Belanger and Paul Richards, all scheduled to be here with Brooks and his family as well. Hopefully, that will all take place if this storm moves out. Of course, there will hopefully be a game played as well. Tonight, it's a battle between the leaders in the American League East and the American League West. The Orioles with a game lead over Detroit. Chicago with five game lead over Kansas City. Now, last night in Cleveland, the Orioles managed to eke out a four -three win in 10 innings over the Indians. The big story, of course, Scott McGregor with his 14th win. Let's take a look at some of those highlights. In the first inning, Dan Ford at third. Neil Heaton walks Eddie Murray. The ball gets by catcher. Jim Essien. Ford hesitates, then decides to come home. Essien throw to Heaton. It's in time to get Ford. Indians third. Franco doubles. And Essien picks an opportune time for his first homer of the season off. McGregor, this one to left. And the Indians go on top by the score of 2 to nothing. Ohs got those back off. Heaton in the 6. Murray walks. Gary Renneke puts one away for Gary. He's 12th of the season. That tied the game at two apiece. Ohs then took the lead for the first time in the 9th. A big blast off the bat of Rick Dempsey his heat tags went off of heating. if they're his again. and the Orioles have a very nice 3 -2 lead. as Rick comes trotting home with his home run. Bottom of the ninth, though. Gorman -Thomas is going to hit one to the third base side of the mound. Scottie whirls and throws, unfortunately, way over the head of Eddie Murray. And Gorman -Thomas, who has more speed, actually, than you'd think, makes it all the way to third on the error. Then Otto Velez comes to the plate. 0 for 18 until this point. He ends that streak with a base hit. Passed Richie Dower, scores Thomas. It's 3 all after 9. Top of the 10th, Ford singles. Eddie Murray crashes one off, reliever Bud Anderson to the gap in right center. Dan Ford motoring scores all the way from first, and that was it. O's went four to three. McGregor gets his 14th win. Tippie the save. O's alone in first place as the Tigers lost yesterday. And of course, we are happy to be back here with Scott McGregor, the winner in last night's game. And Scottie informed today that he's been named the American League Pitcher of the Month for the month of July. Toronto police arrested Winfield and charged him with cruelty to animals. Now there is in the police station despite the fact they said it was an accident. He was released after posting $500. Bond and word just in is that. the uh... toronto police have decided to drop all charges against dave windfield well last night it was a pretty dull game for all of the people in houston but not so for the colts who totally managed to outclass the oilers beating them by the score of fifteen to nothing they sacked the oilers quarterbacks seven times held their offense to just a hundred and nine yards total offense very impressive performances from vernon maxwell from chris hinton from mark herman from mike pagel and a lot of other people as well we have highlights to show you from the 15 to nothing win. Mike Pagel a solid first half completed 12 of 17 connects with Ray Butler over the middle for a 15 yard gain. Only points of the first half Dan Miller 30 yard field goal Colts on top three nothing. Colts with a good pass rush all night seven sacks Chris Lindstrom gets to Oliver Luck on this one. Oilers deep in their own territory.
