Oprah Winfrey is with us today. Right now, opponents to the plan to use the East Baltimore Continental Cannes site as a prison are gathered in Annapolis to lobby against the proposal. Southeast and East Baltimore residents got together at three locations, like here at the library at Erdman Shopping Center, to board busses for the trip to the state house. Sponsors of the demonstration expected as many as 200 prison opponents to take part. At the statehouse, they'll try to stir up some legislative support for two bills. That would keep the General Assembly from appropriating money for the Continental Can prison site. The prison opponents will break up into small groups, each headed by a team captain to approach individual legislators. George Baumann is in Annapolis and will have a full report tonight at six o'clock. Also at the State House this afternoon, the House is expected to take a final vote to override Governor Mandel's controversial veto of the welfare bill. The measure provides a five percent payment increase each year for the next five years. Last week, the Senate voted to override the veto. And State Senator Roy Staten has come out in favor of Acting Governor Blair Lee's tax relief proposals. The Baltimore Democrat chairs the Budgeted Taxation Committee, which will hold hearings on Lee's Tax Plan. Apples and oranges are the longest lasting in the fruit category, and these days a dozen Florida 100 oranges will run you about 84 cents to a dollar a dozen. Five pounds of white potatoes are about 84 cents, baking potatoes about 32 cents a pound, carrots 23 to 45 cents a pounds, cabbage about 23 cents a pund, yellow cooking onions about 19 cents a pond, and celery, it takes a long to wilt, will cost you about 58 cents a bunch. Let's take a look at currently as you can see it is definitely snowing a pretty heavy snow right now and the temperature really hasn't risen in fact is dropping about a degree, 26 now, minus 3 Celsius humidity going up. 72 percent the winds east northeast at nine barometer 30.13 now it's even dropped in the last 15 minutes since i just set that little thing up so it's dropping it's falling big storm here it is today during the morning hours the storm created heavy snow over arkansas missouri the whole area it's moved eastward now and it's probably at this point about in this location right over eastern georgia and it's moving to the east northeast and i'll give you a better look at where it's going to be tomorrow in just a second. Apparently, it's around the Savannah, Georgia area at this moment, and it's very important as to where this storm goes to determine how much snow we actually get here in the Baltimore area. Right now, it looks like it will be moving to the East Northeast to be off the Virginia capes by tomorrow afternoon. And by doing that, we should stay in the colder air a little bit longer than we thought earlier tonight. So I've upped the incubation a few more inches. We could get up to eight inches, especially in the northern and western suburbs. They're still getting, they will definitely get heavy snow in western Pennsylvania, West Virginia, even central Pennsylvania up into New York State as the storm moves up along the coast through tomorrow. Temperatures are cold throughout the region, generally in the mid-20s, but as you head a little further to the south, there is some rain now occurring over parts of southeast Virginia because they are getting an onshore wind of some warmer air. Twenty-four hours from now, here's the way it looks. That storm should be around the New Jersey area, right about, well, let's call it, somewhere around the Atlantic City area. Continues to move in an east-northeast direction. We've got some fair weather coming in behind this system. A lot of sunshine, high pressure. And that'll be pushing the whole system out by later tomorrow. It'll get windy, and temperatures will drop again into the low 20s tomorrow night. A nice Saturday, but look at this. Right behind me here, this storm is going to be moving to the east and give us some more snow Sunday night. Have you had enough? Let's take a look quickly at the state right now. I've got another demarcation line. They're getting some rain now over Salisbury 36, 41 Norfolk with rain, but to the north, snow, heavy snow, five to eight inches, very good likelihood now over most of north central Maryland, anywhere from six to 10, way out in the mountains, 21 in Morgantown, generally in the mid-20s throughout the north central part of the state. And here is the forecast once again. Now I've changed this already, snow. And I'm gonna change it to five to 8 inches tonight, especially north and west of the region. Most of the city will probably get a five-inch snow. Mixed precipitation south and east of the area. Low 25 to 32 tomorrow. Most everything will change to freezing rain or sleet and a rain mixture to the south. So accumulations will drop off considerably by tomorrow mid-morning. High around 34 degrees tomorrow afternoon with some rain activity, which could be heavy. In fact, there's a small stream flood. Watch out for the area for tomorrow with some heavy rains. And as you can see, Saturday, a breezy cold. 32 degrees so a lot of warnings out driving is pretty bad over most of the region although the assault trucks have done an excellent job Jerry and I know your driveway is clear Archie was out pushing the snow she was
text/plain
https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/149128/file/273738#t=3092.97,3310.98
https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/149128/file/273738/transcript/80277/annotation/89
Speaker 17: Absolutely, with his big, big feet in the air.
