Has it hit land yet? No, it's still sitting out. Well, what has hit has been what's ahead of it. We've had a lot of tides going up, and there were some tornadoes out on the mainland in Florida. But it's just been sitting out there. We mentioned this last night, that it could have sat overnight. And it did. It finally started to move. It's moving a little bit to the northwest, tiny, a little bit, about 10 miles an hour. But Apalachicola is the next place. Matter of fact, what they did was evacuate some folks in that area. and the folks that were evacuated in Mobile and up near the Panhandle have got to go right back and get out of there again. They came back home, now they got to go back out again, and the folks that were evacuated yesterday are going back home. So, Elaine is causing all kinds of trouble. You can see Florida's governor ordered a second evacuation, as I say, of the Florida Panhandle. The wind's got up to 120 miles per hour. It's caused some tornadoes to touch down, doing a lot of damage, but now it's sort of heading for the northwest, probably down around Mobile and the mouth of the Mississippi is where it'll come out. Round here, everything's OK. Everybody's having a good time out at the fair tonight. Temperature's 73 degrees. The winds are from the east, that is, at 6. Humidity is 62 % and the barometer is 3 .0 .23. And it's starting to fall. There's your next tides and your sunrise and your sunset. Temperatures around the area right now are really not bad at all. 73 degrees. Boy, we ended right from summer to fall. 73 up in Western Maryland. 72 in Frederick. 76 in Martinsburg. On the other side of the map, it's 71 degrees. Lots of clouds down by the beach right now. And it's 77. in dc we'll take a quick look right now at our local radar not much happening some ground clutter as we open it up we'll see why it's nice and clear as far as precipitation goes the clouds are there but nothing happening as far as any rainfall except down where elena is uh... what happened to us was that we had the high pressure i mentioned last night that was supposed to drop down here and start to give a southwesterly flow instead didn't drop as far gave us the easterly flow And the winds came right off of the ocean. That's why we had the clouds today. On the cloud cover map, you'll see what a different story. We've got the higher clouds around us. There's the stationary front, Elena right here. And again, it looks now like Elena, which has been gaining strength, getting up as we said to about 120 mile per hour sustained winds, is gonna take this route. And now, at least this is our latest theory from AccuWeather, it's going to go up right here through the Mississippi Valley, around the Ohio Valley. And we may have some remnants of Elena after all, sometimes towards the end of the week. By then, though, it'll just be some rain and maybe a thundershower or two, and that is about it. On our forecast map for tomorrow, we'll show you how things are happening. The cold front you just saw that was on the cloud cover up here will rapidly move through tomorrow. It's kind of a cool front, so we may not notice much more than maybe just a thundershower or two. High pressure is going to be pumping up that humidity, though, tomorrow, so it will be a humid day. Behind that, another high -pressure system, so things should be OK. But as we say, the remnants of a lane, it could determine the end of the week. It's going to be partly cloudy tonight, some patchy fog late. overnight low 62 things are starting to clear up for the night by the way for tomorrow some sun it'll be warm humid chance of a late afternoon thundershower high of 85 degrees and on the five day forecast looks like this humid tomorrow 85 some clouds some sun for Tuesday humid again on Wednesday clouds on Thursday and we've got another system moving in from the Midwest for Friday and maybe some showers and 82 degrees and that's about it right now we'll have the rest of the five day forecast and latest up to the information on the later coming up for you at 11 right now here's Frank
text/plain
https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/144445/file/266963#t=508.07,703.56
https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/144445/file/266963/transcript/77138/annotation/33
Speaker 3: Well, the Timonium State Fair is an annual event of fun and entertainment, but for the dedicated youngsters who belong to the 4 -H clubs, it means a lot of hard work and tremendous rewards. They always it's hard to tell the way it is right now the way we're looking at it in AccuWeather is it would probably come in through the Mississippi Delta we're gonna show you a picture of it and then probably go up through the Mississippi Valley then the Ohio Valley and then to us rather than how when we get affected like we were talking you were down in a down in the bay one time when came Hurricane David that came up across Florida then out to sea and then back up. so when they come across land they really start to settle down and it just becomes a rainstorm by the time it reaches us well that's good news but not good news for those people no uh... we just checked it a hundred and fifty mile an hour gusts have been reported down there not good news for those people. No, they've got. in this storm and now they're starting to worry about new orleans because new orleans it looks like will be the next place that they're gonna have to start to evacuate and these poor folks down there have been lifted out of their houses and gone somewhere and then told to come on back and then out again alaina just doesn't want to make up its mind right now it's moving west and we'll show you in just a couple of minutes as far as we're concerned though with our forecast we'll get ahead with it right now sixty six degrees and the winds are from the southeast at five. By the way, today we were supposed to have a sunny day, but the high pressure stayed up there and gave us easterly winds with some clouds moving in. Finally doing things right and it's clearing up out there. Humidity 88%, the barometer is 3 .0 .25 and it's steady. There are your tides and your sunrise and your sunset. All right, we're gonna take a look at our temperatures around the area now. 63 up in Martinsburg, it's 63 also in Western Maryland. 66 from Morgantown, West Virginia, 65 up in Frederick, Maryland, 70 down in D .C. On the other side of the map. It's 62, and the winds will be from the southwest, 8 to 15 miles per hour tomorrow. We'll show you the cloud cover. Here's how it looks. Thanks for watching! This is Elena right here. As far as our weather is concerned, I'll talk about that first. We've got a cold front here that could affect our weather tomorrow. It's a weak cold front, though, and we shouldn't really expect anything out of it. We've got high pressure here. Now, with Elena, again, it's about 115 miles southeast now of Pensacola. It's moving itself west. There we go. And the exact place it is is 29 .4 north latitude and 85 .7 west longitude. This is the course it should take. They're expecting Elena to start to move west, and it is doing that right now. it'll probably come up this will be the first area affected when it hits land it still hasn't really hit yet is the lower portion of louisiana and then kind of move up through the delta again up through the mississippi valley the ohio valley and then if we get anything of it any remnants of it will come as it moves across but right now it is a terrible terrible storm with gusts up to a hundred fifty miles per hour the tides could be twelve feet above normal and uh... they're trying to get those people out of there because if they don't get out now they just might not ever do it anyway Let's go to some happier news. Let's go to our forecast partly cloudy tonight. Patchy fog late overnight low is going to be 62 and then for tomorrow it's going to be some sun around and humid chance of a thundershower late and 85 degrees on the five day forecast. We'll get you through the week 85 tomorrow. Humid again. It'll be cloudy and sunny on Tuesday, partly sunny for wake up call tomorrow and 65 degrees. And now here's frank.
text/plain
https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/144445/file/266963#t=2289.23,2466.22
https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/144445/file/266963/transcript/77138/annotation/123
Speaker 3: Already done, well, local stamp lovers are feasting their eyes on rare treasures this Labor Day weekend. Now, once the Palmer tributes were over, you might have thought the ball club was ready to go out and win one for their old teammate. Well, it didn't happen. The O's were crushed by Seattle. The final count, 10 to two. Seattle not wasting any time getting to the Orioles pitcher. Starter, Dennis Martinez out, Cowens leans over, then watch this, rocks a base hit into center field. Jack Bricani will score the first run of the ballgame. Third inning now. We pick up the defensive play of the game. Donnie Scott singles to center.
