It'll take probably till the late morning to mid day to clear the the lingering showers out of the area. You can see where they are now. Some light rain across the northern part of the bay. Some light rain now coming from southern Carroll County into Baltimore County. This is going to be the story and rather dreary conditions, as I said for the next couple of hours. Look at the bigger picture here. This frontal system now has going to going to do two things has brought the rain to us, but has also displaced the warm and humid air further to the south. And we'll get it on out of here. And in fact, keep it out of here for the next three days. Cooler, much nicer conditions. An elderly man was trapped inside and died. A 70 year old woman was forced to jump from a window to safety. The second floor of this building was fully involved in fire. The units are telling me when they first arrived on the scene, they made a quick attack on the fire. In fact, it was kept to a one alarm assignment. Sources say the dress, which Lewinsky has now turned over, as well as answering machine tapes with the president's voice on them, had been in her mother's custody. For that, the independent counsel might have to go to court, which could well result in another long legal battle. Sources familiar with Lewinsky's story say that the theory that the president and his friend, Vernon Jordan, were trying to buy her silence by getting her a job now seems less persuasive than it once did. The president's allies continue to insist that he will not change his story. When he testifies, he'll continue to deny everything. It may take up to a week for that winning ticket to be authenticated before the $162 million is divvied up. 13 ways Hattie Frank are there getting any expert advice on how to manage this wealth? Well, it appears they're getting all the standard advice. Three things. At least one. Keep the winning ticket for now. Locked up in a safe deposit box, get themselves a lawyer. They've done that. And also seek out some financial counseling. And that's on on tap to. All right, Frank Courier reporting from Ohio. Thank you. Tennessee officials are looking into claims by a woman who says she deliberately tried to infect dozens of men with the Aids virus. Originally, Pamela Wiser said she had at least 51 night stands. She now says it was only five. Weiser says she did it for revenge after learning she was infected with HIV. Weiser has been charged with two counts of criminal exposure. Authorities are urging anyone who had sexual contact with her to get tested in this morning's medical report, A new approach to treating Breast Cancer. And would it spare them a mastectomy? That's total removal of the breast. A study in this morning's Journal of Clinical Oncology says it does. Researchers looked at 1500 women with early stage breast cancer. 70% of those treated with chemotherapy first were able to have a lumpectomy. That's removal of just the area around the tumor and not the whole breast of women who received chemotherapy after surgery, only 60% had breast sparing surgery. The researchers say this new approach does not affect a woman's chance of survival. And there's one additional benefit that's women get to tell earlier if chemotherapy will work on their particular tumor. Does this mean that all women with breast cancer should have chemotherapy before surgery? Probably not. What it means is that all women should have a discussion with their doctors about this option, particularly if they're at the stage where they're discussing mastectomy. Would this spare them having that radical operation disfigurement. Correct. Could they have a lumpectomy instead? Now, it might not sound like a lot 70% and 60%, but 10% difference between those before chemotherapy and those after actually translates into a lot of women. Well, this was part of a study. Do you think it will actually become standard treatment? I think more studies like this will be done. And I think many women who are making that decision now will incorporate this into their decision making process with their doctors. It seems that the cancer treatment therapies are evolving very rapidly. Doctor Emily Snee Thank you. Still ahead on this morning we have Mark McEwan's Entertainment Report. Thousands of police officers and citizens joined Officer John Gibson's family yesterday to say goodbye. We can do a lot for ourselves if we just have a little help. All right, freckles? Having a good old time here. And this is Freckles on Friday. You see why we call her freckles? She got these spots around, and, really cute little dog freckles comes. Listen to Baltimore County animal shelter. She's a mixed cocker spaniel. We think she got kind of long, medium length hair, not long hair, but she's a lively little girl and she's not going to get all that big. We figure small to medium dog here. And she has one brother and one sister, lots of large adult dogs and lots of cats at the shelter. So, give them a call there. There's the number 8875961. If you have room for freckles or any of the other animals at the animal shelter has. It's wonderful thing to do, a good place to go to get a pet. If you're looking for a pet. What do you think, freckles? Weekend. Yeah, let's talk weekend here, Katie. I'll take care of the freckles while you do as we look outside right now. But looking outside with our towercam, we see the clouds breaking at the moment. And in fact, by mid afternoon we're going to see plenty of sunshine. Actually, further out in the western part of the state, there's already, a good bit of sunshine and further to the east a good bit of cloudiness. So you get the idea. The transition occurring from west to east. And right now we're looking toward the east, and that's the departing frontal system that we can see on the satellite view moving through the area right now. And that did bring us, as I said, some pretty decent rain in some spots, vivid lightning displays in other places and and locally some heavy winds. At one point there about 3500 customers without power. But most of that is getting under control and wasn't really a big problem. 67 at Atlantic City, 73 at Ocean City, 72 at Baltimore. And, as we look at the conditions out on the Bay today, it's going to be a bit of a wind today as the front has pushed on through north winds, kicking up 10 to 20 knots, 1 to 2 foot chop in the water temperature owing to the rain that fell in. To drop it another couple degrees is down to 77 this morning at Thomas Point Lighthouse. Here is a national radar picture. And here's that frontal system moving on through. We'll bring in first warning radar to show you the up to date picture of where the showers are right now. You see, there really is nothing threatening us here in Baltimore. The dean of America's local TV reporters. Trusted and respected. Tough, yes, but as sweet as a box of chocolates. But personally, I am not crazy about George is really the same. Turned out to be the same kind of a man as he was a boy. In that he was a deep thinker, conservative, extremely reserved. And I'm just elated that it's his birthday coming up. And he's lived these many years and brought so much glory to his old friends, to his old neighborhood, and to his old school, Baltimore City College. I never thought I was that great. Wind chill is four degrees above zero tonight in northern New Hampshire at 60 200ft above sea level. Here's that cold front moves through. Last night. The showers and storms now off to our south. Created quite a few showers and storms in the Carolinas. As you can see, a big blow up of clouds, especially in eastern Carolina and southern sections of Georgia and South Carolina. Some big thunderstorms down there. Cool, dry air moved in and it's staying for a couple of more days. This high eventually moves through our region, moves offshore. It'll start to warm up by Tuesday and Wednesday of next week. Temperatures get back into the upper 80s, humidity increases, maybe a shower or two by Tuesday, and some showers or thundershowers by Wednesday. Looks like a pretty good bet at this point. Sutton made it to second, and that seemed to send Ericsson into some weird spiral or something. Next batter Sal Fasano smacks one back up the middle center field. Sutton scores.
