Throughout his presidency, Bill Clinton has made a big push to try and get Americans to do volunteer service. With the ending of the Cold War and the downsizing of the military. Well, good evening, everyone. This is Eyewitness News at 11:00. I'm Richard Chair, and I'm Pat Warren. Two year old Joshua Jefferson is safe in his own bed tonight. Earlier today, he was found wandering around near his West Baltimore home when the boy was turned over to city police this afternoon, he could not tell them who he was or where he lived. And for 3.5 hours, a couple of Central District officers became babysitters. Joshua Strange Odyssey began this afternoon when somehow he made his way into a car that a man was washing a block from his home. The man called police, who asked us to show the then unidentified boy on Eyewitness News. At 630 we did. Joshua's relative called his mom, who called the Central District some. What's your name in field Jefferson vehicles, but it was later in the summer. Is he your son? Police sent an officer to pick up Sheila Jefferson and bring her to the district for a reunion with her son, Joshua, whom she thought was upstairs asleep when she left him with an older daughter so she could go shopping for school uniforms. When she got home, she found her son was missing. So when I went upstairs to wake him and his brother up, I saw his brother and I didn't see him, so I started looking everywhere. I said, well, maybe he's hot and he's playing some ways and I didn't find him. So that's when I went outside and one of my neighbors told me that earlier a police officer had found a little boy, but she didn't know whether it was my little boy or not. It was her little boy. Sheila Jefferson assured police that she is a good mother of five school aged children, and that when she's leaving the young kids for any long period of time, she says she always has an adult watch them. Well, police could have the answer tomorrow to the mysterious death of a six month old child. They expect to get the answer from an autopsy on the body of Jeremy Schaefer. April Schaefer told police she was driving in Hamden yesterday when she checked on the baby in the backseat of the car and realized he was unconscious. She stopped the car and tried to give the child CPR while someone else called 911. Police questioned both the mother and the baby's stepfather last night, then let them go.
