This is Hamlin Park. Of course, this is a nice day. It is hard to believe, is absolutely impossible to believe when you look outside how sunny it is and how gorgeous it is outside right now to realize that in just about maybe 24 hours, we'll have a coating of snow on the ground that could mount up to just about a foot. Take a look at what we're talking about. The national radar is showing just basically a glob of very, very high intensity storms moving in from the Gulf. They're sitting over Louisiana, Mississippi now bringing tornado watches and warnings, some severe thunderstorms down there. It's moving directly along a path that should bring us about 6 to 12 inches of snow starting tomorrow morning at about 8:00 and continuing into the entire day, into the night and into Monday morning, possibly about midday or so, we're probably going to be looking at this. But first, here's what's some people are talking about this morning. The next story may break your heart and it may infuriate you to. A tragic fire in Saint Louis overnight claimed the lives of six children. And this morning, police say the fire was deliberately set and they believe they know who did it. A 23 year old man is in custody at this hour. Witnesses are telling investigators the man was seen arguing with a woman who lives in the apartment building earlier in the day. They say shortly before the fire began, that same man was seen outside the building with a red container possibly filled with gasoline. Three of the young victims were found huddled together inside a closet. Three others were huddled outside the door. You know, it's a waste of human life. Six kids, you know, their whole life ahead of them. And it's just a tragedy that doesn't need to happen. Well, we do have a full team of arson investigators. We have reason to believe that the fire was intentionally set. We know that there was an altercation prior to the fire. We're looking at that aspect of it. There's a number of people right now we're talking to and a number of things that we're looking at. You know, we're going to we're going to solve this, but certainly we'd like to do this right away. And now, in addition to the abuse charge, Marquis MATTHEWS faces a charge of first degree murder of the six month old. Take a good look at this eight year old boy. City police say Antwan Emmanuel Scott never made it home from Lake Montebello Elementary School yesterday. They spent all night conducting a door to door search of the neighborhood for Antoine. Even the state police helicopter was out helping with the search. If you have seen this little boy, please call police. Antoine is four foot one inches tall. He weighs £75 and has a very visible mole on his left cheek. Well, people at a Luther Ville shopping center didn't have any trouble spotting police last night. Dozens of officers rushed to the intersection of York and seminary avenues after a report of a grenade in the area. Sky Chopper 13 captured this video from high above the scene. Baltimore County police say a cabdriver reported finding the device in his car. After securing the area, the bomb squad checked it out. Turns out it was only a replica of a grenade and did not contain any explosives. A volatile situation between a man and his ex-wife comes to a tragic end in Howard County. They're experiencing tornado watches, some reports of tornadoes touching down, a lot of severe thunderstorms, lightning associated with that. We're getting the winds from that same system moving our way. That's the first sign that it's headed. We're talking about this starting tomorrow, about 8:00 in the morning, not moving off off of into the sea until probably about midday on Monday. So during that time, you can expect that Maryland, the northern portion of Maryland, the western counties, we'll start to see the brunt of that, which will mean 6 to 12 inches of snow in Baltimore City. All right. Thanks very much, Tim. But first, back to the stories people are talking about. Breaking news on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway. Every week, the actors portray what it's like working in a hospital's emergency and operating rooms. And this morning, our good friend Dr. Bill Howard from Union Memorial Hospital joins us to talk about just how close to real life are the actors getting it? You don't watch news shows, do you? You kidding? Well, anyhow, when I was when I saw, I went and watched it. And I got to tell you, medically speaking, medically speaking, it's really pretty accurate. Now, the dramatics, the conversation between the doctors and the nurses. Yeah, a little hokey, but the medical aspects of it are really pretty darn good compared to the old days when it was really wacky. But this stuff today is research. They got consultants and they do a good job. In the episode, you watched how close to real life was. Well, it was on a hand transplant. A young girl lost her hand and she wanted her mother's hand had been killed in the same room and they were going to a hand transplant. Well, this is pretty uncommon. They've only been two done, but there have been two done. Technically, it's not hard to hook it up. They can whether or not it works. Jury's still out on that. But it is done. They're accurate. And the biggest problem is in order to keep the hands on, you have to take any suppressant drugs the rest of your life. And these are dangerous drugs. And the question is, should you do something like that for something that's not life threatening? Did they get into that at all? Oh, yeah, they no, no. They brought that up there. They had a meeting of the Ethics Committee. And this was a point they brought up. And that does happen just the way they said it. So kudos, emergency room. We always see that as the nerve center of the hospital. Is that accurate, too? Well, it is what it is. It's the emergency room over two weeks compressed into an hour, because most of the time the emergency room is like combat.","format":"text/plain"},"target":"https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/75076/file/161158#t=1609.48,1698.46"},{"id":"https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/75076/file/161158/transcript/38616/annotation/18","type":"Annotation","motivation":"transcribing","body":{"type":"TextualBody","value":"It's hours of boredom and moments of terror. And so they can press it all into an hour. What they do is pretty accurate. It's not quite as dramatic as they show it. There's not quite as much screaming and carrying on, but it's not bad. Yeah, it's a little more calm in. In real life. We like to think so. It's also very important to notice, at least in my hospital, that the nurses in our hospital are much prettier than the ones they have on television. Oh, now that's absolutely I think at that point in Union Memorial's, you know. Yeah, absolutely. I've got my my dad was there a couple of weeks ago and he's doing great. Beautiful, intelligent nurses. Absolutely. Yes, you're right. It's going I hope when I get back the medical lingo that we hear. Did they have it down? Yeah, it's pretty good. It's it's funny. They have the words them, but they mispronounce them a lot. The words that they don't they haven't told them how to pronounce them, they just read them. And that's a little disconcerting, but the terminology is pretty good and the consultants have got these guys pretty well prepped so that they put on a show that medically is close to the way it is. We see it happening in seconds on Chicago, Open Air and other shows, but it's not the way it happened a much longer period. And that's what I thought. You know, the one show that really captured the operating room, the talk that happened in the operating room was MASH. Now, yes, it was the way it was or is. That's true with the rest of these not quite accurate, but MASH was good. So I don't know. I don't know what channel MASH is on, but I think it's still on every channel.","format":"text/plain"},"target":"https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/75076/file/161158#t=1699.36,1788.19"},{"id":"https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/75076/file/161158/transcript/38616/annotation/19","type":"Annotation","motivation":"transcribing","body":{"type":"TextualBody","value":"Well, I think it's in America, but that's got it down. A horrible fire in Saint Louis claims the lives of six innocent children and police say the fire was deliberately set. A 23 year old man is in custody. He's the boyfriend of one of the women injured in the fire and he was seen arguing with her shortly before the blaze broke out. Three of the children who died in the fire were found huddled together in a closet. Three others were holding each other outside the door. You know, it's a waste of human life. Six kids, you know, their whole life ahead of them and. It's just a tragedy that doesn't need to happen. I mean, it's a very tragic situation. The six children who died in the fire ranged in age from seven months to nine years old. Here locally, a fire in Pimlico yesterday kept firefighters very busy. Well, I don't know about doom, Pat, but certainly we are going to have a last blast of winter coming up. We've got a winter storm system forming out down in the states that are adjacent to the Gulf of Mexico. That provides plenty of moisture. We've got cold air sufficiently cold air close enough that we do have that mix that could produce significant snowfall starting tomorrow across the area. Take a quick look at the satellite view. You'll see what I'm talking about. Down to the southwest, you see that developing area of low pressure and the clouds have already spread into the region. So for tomorrow, beginning with our wake up, we're looking for certainly the skies to be overcast as they are right now. Snow developing early in the morning. 30 degrees is a seasonably cold temperature that during the course of the day tomorrow the snow will continue and in fact, will probably mix with rain from time to time during the day tomorrow. And then eventually by the bottom line, we get to Monday morning, look for six inches of snow on the ground in Baltimore and your areas around the beltway Monday morning, as much as a foot is possible north and west of the city, less south and east of the city. Well, the bright side really is that if we're going to get a snow storm, it should start on a weekend and not during the week. So we don't have to worry about rush hour traffic and things like that. Well, that's right. Sunday, you know, tomorrow when the snow starts and develops through the course of the day, I don't think that'll be for the reasons you're talking about are going to be all that great an impact on the big global picture. But the trouble is, I think Monday morning is going to end up being a real problematic situation from this vantage point. And that, you know, we're looking for six inches potential as the best bet right now for planning purposes.","format":"text/plain"},"target":"https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/75076/file/161158#t=4389.0,4517.59"},{"id":"https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/75076/file/161158/transcript/38616/annotation/45","type":"Annotation","motivation":"transcribing","body":{"type":"TextualBody","value":"Looking ahead to Monday morning, I think six inches of snow across the area around Baltimore and potentially a foot of snow north and west and of course, maybe a little bit less south and east. I can hear the schools closing. Well, that's right. If I were a school administrator, I'd be paying close attention during the day tomorrow. And if this storm steers the right way, of course, we could end up with significant snowfall or the wrong way as well. If it goes wrong and somebody else's problem, yeah, it could end up being more rain and snow, too. So that's the other side of that little seesaw that we always seem to be on. These storms come, but let's go and look outside right now. We'll give you a quick reminder, taking a look from our tower down on the highways. And boy, they look so good right now that we hope by Monday morning they look this good. But plan for the worse stuff from the satellite view. We can see the clouds. It spread into the area today as Dennis was talking about in this package earlier. Pretty nice day today. But we did see the clouds begin to turn the sky, a white wintry color during the course of the afternoon. And in fact, our temperature right now just having dropped below 40 degrees, we're at 39, doesn't really look like frigid winter temperatures across the region. In fact, everybody is above freezing right now. And by the time the snowfall moves into the area too early in the morning, the temperatures will be cold enough to support snow and particularly a loft is colder there. So snow looks like it's in our in our future, particularly for tomorrow morning. Talk about temperatures today, though, it was a pretty nice day, almost 50 degrees at the airport.","format":"text/plain"},"target":"https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/75076/file/161158#t=4518.16,4605.4"},{"id":"https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/75076/file/161158/transcript/38616/annotation/46","type":"Annotation","motivation":"transcribing","body":{"type":"TextualBody","value":"We got to 49. 53 would be our high now out of the bay tomorrow. A quick look at those maritime conditions. We're looking for winds from the northeast shifting to the east during the course of the day, picking up from eight toward 20 knots as the day wears along and water temperature holding at 40 degrees. Now, here's the big satellite view and there's no doubt the big radar picture. And there's no doubt about this winter storm system developing down to the southern tier states. And when these storms come from this area, they have a potential to pick up a substantial amount of moisture, which makes them more of a threat than, say, the storms that come out of the west. And you can already see the moisture showing up in this was some heavy thunderstorms. They have been severe thunderstorm warnings and watches posted all along this area. But as this thing moves on up toward our region, it is following what could turn out to be a classic winter storm development pattern. Here's how the satellite shows this thing. You notice the swirling upper air center back here. The surface storm system is right here where the break in the clouds appears. And the path of this is ever so critical as it so often is for us. And right now, the best bet is that this will move a bit to the north and then travel pretty much offshore, probably around the Tidewater, Virginia area. Now, in doing that, it'll keep us on the cold side of the storm. And when it does that, then the precipitation that falls will fall largely as snow and of course, more snow toward the north and and west as this thing steers a little bit further north, then we pull in a little bit more warm air and that changes the mix over more toward rain.","format":"text/plain"},"target":"https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/75076/file/161158#t=4605.73,4694.74"},{"id":"https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/75076/file/161158/transcript/38616/annotation/47","type":"Annotation","motivation":"transcribing","body":{"type":"TextualBody","value":"And of course, that's more likely to happen south and east of the city. That's why the path is ever so critical with these. And we'll be watching this very closely tomorrow. But like I said, for betting purposes, planning purposes for Monday morning, think about six inches of snow on the ground in Baltimore. Tomorrow, temperatures will be in the mid-thirties and even though that's above freezing, that's still cold enough to support snowfall. So for tonight, clouds have started to pile up and build up. Increasingly cloudy through the rest of the overnight, 30 degrees, the seasonably cold overnight low. And then tomorrow, during the morning hours, snow will be arriving. It's not going to arrive in a big pile of snow, but then that snow could mix with some rain during the course of the day, six inches playing on that by Monday morning in the city, possibly as much as 12 inches north and west of the city, 36 degrees. That's going to end on Monday morning. So Monday travel time could be a real problem. Sun returns Tuesday and in fact, by the end of the five day period, look at this. We'll be pretty close to springtime, not only by the season, but also by the temperature. But we'll be tracking this early tomorrow morning with Tim. As Benita Billingsley reports, the stolen property is essential to Mommy's special deliveries. Jennifer Knight left corporate America to stay at home with her children eight month old Audrey, four year old Dylan and two year old Madison. Then to bring in a little more income, Jennifer started her own lawn sign business called Announcing Babies. And life was good until someone stole one of her stalks displayed in front of the greenery florist on Morton Road. I was floored. I mean, who's going to take a six foot stalk? I mean, this is something that's exciting for new parents to announce that they have a new baby. It's a fun thing to do. Who on earth is going to take this? Jennifer started this home design business about a year ago to make extra money while staying home with the children. And it's been more popular than she ever imagined. It's been a lot more work to each sign. Takes about five days to make. Well, what would you like to say to the person who may have your story? I don't want to press charges. I don't want anything negative to come of this. I just want it back. You know, I put a lot of time and effort into this and and hard earned money to make this.
