And it's what he's recovering from that has everybody worried? A confirmed case of Legionnaires disease, a notorious medical condition whose very name conjures up fear and concern. It's SSA Security West building on Woodlawn Drive, where the man with Legionnaires works, and where those who work with him on the sixth floor are now worried. The ministrations facilities manager and staff doctor today met with the other employees to reassure everyone and to say the building will be tested again. What I want to say is that, you know, there is again, no connection between this individual case and the building, and there is no reason for the employees to be unduly alarmed. This disease is only spread by inhaling the water droplets from the source, and they don't spread from one person to another. I'm very much concerned, very much concerned because, in working in the other building, I suffer from some type of respiratory problem and they will not acknowledge it. I'm on my way now downtown to see my doctor, my occupational specialist, because I want to be tested to see if I have this, if it's anywhere near me at all. Because I was sick and out of work two and a half days last week. So at this point, even though administration officials are trying to reassure everyone at this point, few seem to be reassured and may not be even when the tests come back.","format":"text/plain"},"target":"https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/136418/file/253020#t=128.759,263.98"},{"id":"https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/136418/file/253020/transcript/71263/annotation/3","type":"Annotation","motivation":"transcribing","body":{"type":"TextualBody","value":"32 year old Baltimore man has been charged with killing his elderly parents in South Baltimore. Pennsylvania, as a state, had the fifth coolest July in its record weather, record keeping history. And when the numbers finally come in for this summer, in total, it's going to be very interesting to see how the East Coast get itself into shape up right now. And that's a very formidable object. It is trying to force this system back on us. It indeed is showing some movement. Yet this system is now showing some movement in a north westerly direction. Also, take a look at the big satellite photo and do understand that we're also going to plot another area of high pressure directly up to the north. Now what does that mean for us? Means a little bit of a sea breeze is going to be added to the mix. So not only do we have this front being forced back into our area, we also have a bit of a sea breeze setting up and down to the south. Here's that tropical moisture the computer said was going to try and filter up into the area. Looks like indeed some of that moisture is going to be pulled and then tucked back into the Mid-Atlantic region. So honestly, tomorrow afternoon we have a 40% chance. Some showers possible thunderstorms in the area. Look at the moisture that's already down to the south trying to come our way. And we still have pretty sizable moisture sitting offshore. So we've got a 40% chance of showers tomorrow afternoon. That chance gets better, more solid as we move into the evening hours now. Tomorrow also, by the way, with some cloud cover is going to be cooler than this day. We'll look for high temperatures tomorrow in Baltimore. Like 82 degrees, 84 degrees. Right now, it's a time when the Olympic competition gets down to the wire, not for the gold medals, but to see which athlete will be anointed with the picture on a Wheaties box. For 60 years, Americans have seen gold medal heroes on that orange cereal box. Once again, the race to win the Wheaties endorsement has consumers wondering who's next. What's the weightlifting guy? Mark Henry? Michael Johnson, probably that wrestler last night. Oh, the wrestler last night. He was one of the best. It's tough to figure out exactly what it is, but it's a championship spirit. It's that ability to captivate Americans, to capture the hearts and minds. And in case you're wondering, the eventual winner gets only a small stipend but huge exposure. And what they'll also do is put out limited boxes in different regions. Yeah. All right, Kerri Strug, Michael Johnson possible though Brian won the decathlon. World's greatest athlete. A double murder rocks a quiet South Baltimore neighborhood. The biggest shock is that the couple's son is charged with those vicious killings. Good evening everyone. Friends and neighbors along South Hanover Street cannot believe their dear friends, 69 year old Harold and 62 year old Essie Wainwright, are gone, beaten to death with an ax or other blunt instruments, say police spy. Their son's son arrived home around 10 a.m. Wednesday morning. He and the mother got into an argument and again, based on the investigation, he proceeded to bludgeon her to death. The father arrived home shortly thereafter. He arrived on the second floor of the home, at which point he was attacked by the son and bludgeoned to death. I'm just wondering what happened. What possessed him to do this? You know, just their mind or what they dug or whatever. They were the sweetest people I've met. They. They're really nice. Every day, they'd come the door and greet me, and they're just great. They were great people. When Harold didn't show for work at mom's bar across the street from his house, friends became suspicious. I went and knocked on the door and nobody would answer. The door was locked up in the house is locked up. I came back about every 15 minutes, knocking the door.","format":"text/plain"},"target":"https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/136418/file/253020#t=1704.75,1814.72"},{"id":"https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/136418/file/253020/transcript/71263/annotation/18","type":"Annotation","motivation":"transcribing","body":{"type":"TextualBody","value":"And Finally Dwayne answered his son and he. He was part of our family. What's most puzzling to friends is Dwayne in court today for a bail hearing. He, like his folks, was well mannered and well. His personality was good. I mean, he was always such a well mannered person. And he would always see me say, how are you doing, baby? You know, in a manly way, going in the house. And what I heard. I still can't believe this is unbelievable. Even Dwayne was a nice guy like you. Never think that he would do anything like that. In mom's bar today, there's a collection can to help with the burial expenses and memories of Harold with his best drinking buddy, Frank. Leona's. He was just a good guy. I mean, he drank in the bar. This week, 25 year old Darnell Jones was arrested and charged with the murder. Police say evidence recovered from Cunningham's body was compared with a blood sample taken from Jones a decade ago, when a 13 year old girl who lived on the same block as Cunningham was also murdered. Police would not reveal details of that case, but they say that the investigation is still open. A mother walked into a Los Angeles police station and said, I think you're looking for my son. There are reports tonight that when an overly man was arrested for murdering his neighbor, the evidence came from another unsolved case. Susan Collins says that case involved a young woman killed ten years ago who lived on the same street. James Byrd showed me photos of his 13 year old granddaughter, Laura Lynn Byrd. That was about a week after she had retired. She left home. So after that, you know, I never did see her in her condition or anything. She was beaten. Yeah. It has troubled the family that the case remains unsolved. Back then, Byrd had lived in the 400 block of Old Home Road last December. Right across the street, there was another murder. The victim, Evelyn Cunningham, was found beaten and stabbed, just like Laura Byrd. This week, a neighbor, 25 year old Donnell Jones, was arrested in the Cunningham murder. It's been reported that blood taken from Donald Jones at the time of Laura Byrd's murder was matched with fluid found on Mrs. Cunningham when she was murdered last December. It said that's what led to the arrest. Jones had been a suspect in the Cunningham killing since December, but the test linking him to the crime wasn't completed until a few days ago. We were just curious why it took so long for the police to arrest man if they had a suspicion and left him loose in the neighborhood for so long. Police say lab tests and gathering evidence takes time, and they add that Jones wasn't the only suspect initially. Jones was also one of the suspects when Laura Byrd was murdered in 1986. There was an investigation ten years ago. Mr. Jones was not charged in anything. His blood was taken. Yes. We received samples of his blood ten years ago. But again, he was not charged with anything. And so we can't get into any details of that. How do you feel about the fact that no one's ever been convicted for killing her? I think it's a shame. You know all the things that I've done, I go about, you know, bring it back to members of that.","format":"text/plain"},"target":"https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/136418/file/253020#t=6162.73,6257.54"},{"id":"https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/136418/file/253020/transcript/71263/annotation/61","type":"Annotation","motivation":"transcribing","body":{"type":"TextualBody","value":"It's I think it's awful. A pre-dawn accident gave passengers on a Greyhound bus a rude awakening early this morning. The bus was traveling on a foggy interstate near Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, when it veered off the road and landed in the creek. Passengers suddenly found themselves in eight feet of water. One passenger was critically wounded. Several others suffered cuts and bruises. The bus driver could face speeding charges. Some of the passengers said they overheard the driver complaining he was tired and was exceeding the rules for hours behind the wheel. In Cooperstown, New York, this weekend. Former Orioles manager Earl Weaver enters baseball's Hall of Fame, and his commentary tonight, Michael Alaska remembers the raw energy Weaver brought to the ballpark in a summer of disappointment with Orioles baseball. We remember Earl Weaver not only for his winning ways, but the Mount Vesuvius eruptions that he brought to the ballpark when he went nose to nose with an umpire. You knew the ump would win, but you also knew Weaver's tirade would light up the stadium with the howl of fans and the thing on the ball field we used to call Orioles magic. We're hungry for both this summer, not only more victories from the underachieving O's, but more signs of life from the stands. Earl Weaver knew the value of pitching in three run homers, but also his share of psychology. Your platoon? A ronicky with a Lowenstein. You get the best out of each of them. You holler at players for not thinking, and it makes every other player stay alert. You jump in an umpire's face.","format":"text/plain"},"target":"https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/136418/file/253020#t=6258.59,6358.87"},{"id":"https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/136418/file/253020/transcript/71263/annotation/62","type":"Annotation","motivation":"transcribing","body":{"type":"TextualBody","value":"It can rouse not only your ballclub, but 40,000 fans.
