This Roots reunion is a kaleidoscope of the music, dance and poetry, which raised through the various experiences of black people from Africa to America. We are especially grateful to the students and staff of the Community College of Baltimore under the direction of Dr. Marion Bonaparte for their participation. And now City Line presents I'm Down Home Roots Reunion. I was reminded of the days of long ago, the great days of virtuous chastity, the wild man and wildebeest gap. Plus, I love Africa as a self on sophisticated, queenly African made that precious pill of the past. Not all high beauties who are the best know all her charms the highest. In the days of long ago. But give me back that Africa, with all her best and all. How wonderful. Then leave me to plan a new career. God on Africa, charged with the charms of long ago yet give me to from far away land. The pharaoh lowers the fire a day. Give me days in and out of that long lost Africa. I still on dawn my African. And death didn't say a word, but he loosened the reins on his pale white horse and he clamped the spurs to his bloodless side. And out and down, he rode through heaven's pearly gates, past suns and moons and stars on death row. And the phone from his horse was like a comet in the sky on death row, leaving the lightning's flash behind straight on down. He came while we were rocking round her bed. She turned her eyes and looked away. She saw what we couldn't see. She saw all death. She saw all death coming like a falling star. But that didn't frighten Sister Caroline. He looked to her like a welcome friend, and she whispered to us, I'm going home. And she smiled and closed her eyes.
