Strong winds and heavy rain are hitting us. Dr. Bob has the latest for us on a tornado watch tonight Bob. That's right, Pat. That watch, which is issued during mid-afternoon, is going to remain in effect until 730 tonight for pretty much the metro Washington, D.C. area due east. Then on up to the north, we have seen some pretty hefty thunderstorms moving through the Baltimore area. They still haven't reached most of the eastern shore. But here is the current situation now. Another line shaping up further to west doesn't look quite as strong as the first line it went through. But we don't want to make too much of that Along this line is where the primary concern is right now. All of this should be over within the next few hours. But until then, keep an eye on the sky. We have had one funnel cloud reported up in Harford County. So strong thunderstorms are a distinct possibility over the next couple of hours. We'll be back in a few minutes to talk about how this fits into the forecast for the week ahead Pat. Okay. Thanks, Bob. A grisly scene in the Guildford area where police have found an elderly couple murdered. The weekend team's Kai Jackson is on the scene with more. Kai, all. Police have been out here probably about two and a half, maybe three hours now investigating the scene at 208 Stratford in the Guilford neighborhood. What we do know is that the victims are 88 year old Walter Locke and his wife, 81 year old Mary. Now, police were called to the scene by the daughter of the couple who'd been trying unsuccessfully to reach her parents for some time. She came to the house and discovered there was a break in at the one today. Police received a call to to Stratford Avenue for a report of a burglary. Upon their arrival, they investigate the scene and upon investigating the interior of the residence, they found an elderly couple murdered inside. Basically, the daughter was unable to make contact with her parents for unusual amount of time. After numerous attempts and being unsuccessful, she decided to come over to the residence at 208 Stratford. When she got here, she went to the rear of the residence and noticed that there was some forced entry. She then backed off and called police. When police arrive to investigate the scene, they did find Mr. and Mrs. Lock inside murdered. And at this point, police will not say how the couple was murdered. We don't know whether or not it was the result of a knife. We don't know whether or not it was a result of a shooting. These things are not available at this time. What police are telling us is, is that they want to protect the integrity of the case. So they don't want to release that information. They won't tell us if the couple was tied up. Nor do we know how long the couple was there. But I can tell you this. The crime scene tape obviously is still up. If you remember, just a couple of months ago, there was a person murdered not too far from this area, maybe a block or two away. Residents were very cognizant of that and pointed it out to me as I talked with them. So, again, their reaction is shock. But again, they have seen this type of situation happen before. Glen Burnie priest and the church receptionist are counting their blessings tonight. Father Jean Nickel and receptionist Eileen Pulaski were abducted at knifepoint from the rectory of Holy Trinity Catholic Church yesterday. A man came into the rectory demanding money and ended up taking them for a ride. I was really I thought I was shocked. I said, oh, my God. Father Gene Nichols says the credit goes to God for getting him out of a tight spot. The trunk of his car was just off. I just can't imagine. I had the wits about me to think about getting out of there, but I did. I think that's divine inspiration. I just the angel or somebody whispered in my ear, Do something. Get out of this thing. And as what happened with anyone who knows my driving, he got fed up with my driving. And on one of these dead end street east, he got me out. He put me in the trunk, and then he got Eileen to drive. He escaped by triggering the automatic trunk release. She stopped for a traffic signal on Davison. Well, I popped the trunk and got out and started running down the street screaming for help. She saw the trunk open, and she got out, too. And she ran. And we went over to a real estate office and got away from him. I've never dreamed that this would ever happen. The car was found in Davidson ville, and Arundel County police are still looking for the suspect. Baltimore City police are still looking for a third suspect in the murder of a pizza delivery man last week. 23 year old Joseph Benjamin and 17 year old Samuel Small surrendered to police at Small's Northwest Baltimore home yesterday, moments after an emotional interview with Eyewitness News in which Benjamin admitted to the killing. They're held with no bail for the murder of 23 year old Egor Berenstain, a Russian immigrant who moved here with his parents 18 months ago. Rescuers from Anne Arundel County and Baltimore County continued to search for the victim. So far, he has not been found. The other family members were rescued by a passing boater. John Bobbitt is back in the news tonight. He's asked the Virginia lawyer to return the knife his wife used to cut off his penis last summer. He's also asking for photographs that were taken during his surgery to reattach it. A judge ruled the pictures part of evidence from the Babbitts trial. But the knife may be considered marital property. And the Babette's are getting divorced. It's the third and final day of Woodstock, 94. And those attending the anniversary concerts say this year's theme could be peace, love and mud. A quarter of a million people jammed into the 850 acres site in Saugerties, New York, where heavy rain has turned normally green fields into mud pits. I had a nice conversation with a lady from Otterbein who was concerned about a tornado there and which some other people were using that terminology. But a tornado has to be a circulating wind and it has a technical classification to it. It looks like right now everything we saw yesterday, straight line winds, those straight line winds can be very strong and strong enough to do serious damage. So sometimes they feel like a tornado. Well, yeah, when you're in it, I mean, it's not easy to figure out the details. You know, the Weather Service investigates those and makes a determination in the aftermath. But right now, strong winds is the assessment. So we're dealing with thunderstorms right now. Show you the radar, gives you an idea of where these things are moving at the present time. Once we get past that, though, we're still going to have some heavy thunderstorms to deal with. On to say that 10:00 to 11:00 hour. So if your plans take you outdoors tonight, allow for that. You folks on the Eastern shore have yet to see those thunderstorms open up to the bigger picture. And look, it is a bigger picture, isn't it? This is a line, a frontal system extending all the way from New York. You saw the mud up at Woodstock all the way down into the central part of the country to Oklahoma and Texas. And what this is, is a boundary with some distinctly different air coming in behind it. We put up with a warm, humid air for the last few days with the thunderstorms. What we're going to see is the payoff is a beautiful Monday and Tuesday. Here's our frontal system here right now in the front of it, so to speak, to the south and east. Hot and humid air, but behind it, some cool, dry air. And this stuff is surging down. And when these two air masses meet, that's where you have the conflict. It develops those heavy thunderstorms. But as they move through this evening, tomorrow, we'll be in this very pleasant air mass for the first two days of the coming workweek. And tomorrow, sunshine, a few clouds. A breezy Monday at 80 degrees and on a five day forecast, we'll carry that trend right on over into Tuesday. Two gorgeous days coming up from the beginning of the workweek. Then it looks like we may have a period of some tropical moisture moving back in at the end of the five day period. Divers searched for 23 year old Courtney Yearwood just off Mayo Beach in southern and Arundel County. He was canoe fishing along with three family members just off shore when his boat began to drift. There was no paddle aboard, so Yearwood tried to swim ashore. His drowning was the result of a combination of errors. Unfortunately, the vessel had no means of propulsion.
