We'll take a trip down to the farmers market with our pal Brenda. Call her. Hey. Good morning. Hi, everybody. I'm Brenda Karl, live at the farmers market. I'll show you just how far you can take your money here. Buying fresh fruits and produce. All that's up next on WJZ Eyewitness News. You're watching WGRZ TV. This is Eyewitness News. Right now at 64 degrees on a beautiful sunshiny morning. It's looking really nice outside. If you check out your window this morning, plenty of sunshine. There's nothing even in the way of clouds across the area. Take a look. Otherwise. And we have from sky high, looking down across Ravens Stadium, of course, a beautiful, blue sky kind of day, if you like. Yesterday, you're certainly going to enjoy today. What could be the perfect summer weekend? Yesterday it was gorgeous. Yeah, indeed. I mean, for the 1st of August, I mean, it almost feels like early autumn, and, blue skies will take this anytime. Yeah. For sure. Nice to have you in this morning for today. Well. Thank you. Tim is off on a well-deserved vacation, so I'm trying to help out here on a Sunday morning. All right. And Bob will be back in just a few minutes with the complete first warning forecast. But first, let's get to the top story of the morning. An East Baltimore mother is preparing to bury her ten year old son. As we reported exclusively yesterday morning, the little boy apparently ran away from home, only to be struck and killed by an alleged drunk driver. The weekend team's Dennis Edwards exclusively speaks to the people who know the family. I mean, it's real thing because I never had a kid, but I can own one. I can wonder how she feel in losing a kid like that. Nicole McCoy is waiting a few doors down from Valencia, Hagler's house. A neighbor hoping to comfort her friend whose troubled ten year old is no more. I was just shocked. I mean, I can I will believe that he would run away, but to take the other kid as well with him and getting where he was, and I just didn't believe it. He's a long way from home for these kids is definitely Northern Parkway, you know, round off it. Yeah. Long way, long walk high to get there. You know, not a question at all. Don Randall and Nicole McCoy don't want their faces on camera, but Nicole does want people to know that Jamal ran away from home the first time back in June. His mother, Valencia, shared her frustration and Jamal's reasons for running away. The first time she was telling me that her ten year old, the one that's dead now, would have ran away just because of a situation he had from school of him being late and she just punish him, just punish him, just took something away from them, something like that. For the weekend. Teen Dennis Edwards, WJZ Eyewitness News. And we're told this morning that the man behind the wheel of the van, James Hackett, is charged this morning with driving while intoxicated and vehicular manslaughter. A dip in a friend's pool turns deadly for a six year old boy. The accident happened in Moncton. Police say little Jackson Craig Rogers of New Jersey, was playing in a friend's pool yesterday when he nearly drowned. Child was unconscious when he was rescued. That's hopefully what Shen is trying to teach us here. And she's she's in all of us. She's all of us. Stronger than she was in body. And I just I love her deeply. And she loves everybody that she touched. 26 year old John Miller is behind bars this morning charged with Pullman's murder. Police say he lured Pullman to his Reisterstown apartment with a babysitting offer, even though he has no children. A woman who tirelessly promoted her beloved Baltimore is also being remembered this weekend. Friends and family gathered at the church of the Nativity in Towson to say goodbye to Virginia Baker yesterday. Her energetic leadership in Baltimore's Department of Recreation and Parks is her lasting legacy. Her nephew remembered her playful spirit. Obviously telling jokes there, although we cannot hear the audio. Baker served the public for 53 years under nine different mayors. Look for bright sunshine with maybe a few of those high clouds. As I mentioned, pleasantly warm on the beach, a high of 80 degrees. Take a look at the satellite view and the, large view that encompasses all of the country. We do have this dome of high pressure that settled down out of Canada, and that's usually the explanation for these beautiful blue sky, relatively cool, pleasant air masses. We get you can see the frontal system that's the boundary for that. Just south of that, of course, the lingering warm and humid conditions separated by a front from our nice conditions. And the extreme heat is continuing out through Texas once again, continuing next street, a streak of 20 some plus days of 100 plus temperatures. The Dallas-Fort worth area, San Antonio, Houston, that whole area through Texas is sweltering once again. And of course, compounding the problems out there is the fact they've been lacking rain. So, that's really not going to change for them. This is a fairly broad area of high pressure, and it looks like this will actually continue to be with us through at least one more day, and only gradually giving away toward more seasonal temperatures. But so far as today goes, you getting words, a nice, easy forecast, plenty of sunshine today, blue skies, a very nice Sunday with a high of 84 degrees. Okay, first of all, for people who might not know what your movie's about, just kind of bring us up to date. Well, the movie is called Divine Trash, and it's really a documentary on the early career of John Waters, starting from his childhood days up through and including, the work he did on Pink Flamingos, which is probably his most infamous film. Yeah. Now, how did you get interested in him? Well, John, I have been friends for about 30 years, and, I work for American Public Television. About 25 years ago, and, I proposed doing a series of short, documentaries on, local artists. And I picked a composer, a poet, a filmmaker, and a filmmaker I wanted to profile was John. So, at the time he was shooting Pink Flamingos, and no one knew who he was. So I said, I'll tell you what. Let me borrow a camera and I'll go out with a soundman on my days off. I'll pay for the film, stock myself, and I'll shoot John making this film Pink Flamingos. Yeah. Okay. Tell us when the film is going to be out. I had to go and put it in the van because I nearly dislocated shoulder carrying it. And it's like this big. Just solid. No. So I can't wait. We're going to have a big fruit and vegetable buffet when I get home today. I think it's very helpful for us. All right. Thank you so much, Katy, and thanks for the magnet. You're so welcome. And, yeah, we ought to be sweating and sitting in the backyard finding some way to be cool, but, boy, this is turn out to be perfect. This is more like what we expect to find in a September weekend. And, boy, is we. If we can call this perfection, we'll take as much of it as we can get. Looking around right now, as I alluded to before the break, we're not seeing cloudiness at all, threatening us a few clouds, more or less more over on the eastern shore. And they were high clouds really not threatening at all. Take a look from our towercam sky looking down on the city, and notice just the crystal clear conditions and of course, the sunlight coming from the west now as it heads toward the western horizon for sunset, really producing a beautiful, vivid scene across Baltimore, looking down toward the inner harbor. Check the satellite view and you can see again accounting for that there you notice those clouds drifting by mostly over on the eastern shore. They were thin clouds and really didn't obscure a whole lot of sunshine today. But also notice that area of cloudiness down off the Carolina coast. Now that's developing a system off the coast. I guess that's not a big surprise. 83 whereas we would expect to be to 87. But of course, under these circumstances, the thing that makes it so comfortable outside is the low humidity. But, coming in from the west and also down to the south, a frontal system will be eventually working its way on in, but nice conditions will last for another day. Looks like tomorrow is going to be another one of these days. Like yesterday and today. Heat, oppressive heat continues out in the Texas region. Not only is it been over 100 degrees there, but they've got no chance of rain in most places, so it's a real problem. Interestingly enough, very slow moving disturbance. We're not looking for big, huge quick change in this weather pattern. Right now, 69 degrees throughout the Baltimore area. Everybody else cooling off very nicely. And most areas, certainly outside the urban areas, will be down into the 50s tonight. So another great sleeping night to keep the air conditioner off. Save a little money. High temperature today below normal 83 degrees at the airport downtown. Thermometer 82 degrees. Look at last night's low 55 degrees compared to the normal statistics. Here's a satellite view. It's been fairly similar in the weather pattern throughout the week, in the sense that we've had this dome of high pressure over the East Coast, and there's the frontal system that has been separating the nice conditions that settled into our area on Friday and certainly brought us a nice weekend, having displaced the real hot and humid stuff down to the south, actually, even giving places like northern Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi a bit of a break, but not so out in Texas. This wedge of warm air continues to persist out there, and it doesn't look like they've got any break coming in their direction any time soon.
