Tragic story in the area of Park Heights in Belvidere, Richard. 59 year old Helen Whitehead killed Wednesday. Roll. Damon Royce Holmes City Police say he turned himself in and is being held at the northwestern district. He was wanted in the death of Helen Whitehead, a woman who raised six children, was a grandmother and great grandmother. As family and friends gathered for the funeral this evening, her son is expressing relief that a suspect is in custody before he was actually picked up. I was extremely pleased with the way the police department and the crime lab and everyone came and it was extremely professional and in what they were doing, you know, and they've been in constant contact with us. Also, let us know the progress and things of this nature. And I really appreciate what they have been doing so far. City police say at least two men came to Mrs. Whitehead's door looking for her grandson, Shorty, while she was on the phone with her daughter. The Whitehead family is still grieving over their loss. You know, it was very hard for us, the entire family to have people coming from everywhere, you know, and traveling to get here. And we're just happy that the family can be here. And Toronto County police are looking for a rape armed robbery suspect tonight. He's wanted for carjacking a 43 year old woman at Hammonds Lane and Robin Wood Road in Brooklyn. On Saturday morning, the victim says she was slapped in the face, blindfolded, robbed, then taken to an unknown house where she was tied up and raped over a 36 hour period. The woman says she was blindfolded, then set free at E.J. Roberts Park in Brooklyn Park. An 18 year old from in Toronto County is charged in connection with last month's car crash at a millersville Wendy's. Police Eyewitness News that Brian Woodward has now been charged with negligent driving and failing to yield the right of way. The teenager was part of a two car crash in which one of the two vehicles smashed into the restaurant, injuring several people inside. Woodward faces a maximum fine of $145 if he is convicted. Not long ago, Samuel Newman was homeless, but he's working now and helping others get on their feet. It's a great feeling to see. You pick yourself up, you know, build up your self. And that's what this is all about. People helping people each and every Saturday and Sunday. We out here diligently trying to make a way out of what some people say is no way. This community car wash is not only helping the homeless to help themselves, it's also helping this neighborhood in the area of North and Charles. Businesses in the area donate materials for the car wash and they say the program is making a noticeable difference. You see them walking around here with bags and sleeping on the sidewalk, sleeping outside some of the door entrances and across the street on North Avenue. But you don't see it now. And I haven't seen in the last two months since this program started. And since the program began. Those involved say they're feeling better about themselves. What I feel this is positive.
