Pro-Life demonstrators are joined by shackles inside Baltimore's Planned Parenthood building. Dozens of people have been arrested. The protesters were hoping that by disrupting the operation of the clinic, they could prevent women from getting abortions. But as Suzanne Collins reports, blocking the entrance to a clinic is against the law. So police moved in. But you'll have a record. I don't care just because it's wrong for a man to live with another man. It's wrong for a woman to kill her son or daughter. Police had to remove 44 people from inside the Planned Parenthood clinic this afternoon. Some were carried out. Others agreed to walk out. What's it worth, getting arrested today? Yes, but that's not what we sought to do. We sought to save lives. Every Saturday there are pro-life demonstrations here. But apparently this morning it took the Planned Parenthood people by surprise because several of the pro-lifers slipped in through these doors shortly after the place opened. They invaded the clinic. They knocked down a security guard. They trampled over violently trampled over one of our persons who escorts patients into the clinic.","format":"text/plain"},"target":"https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/114888/file/218446#t=122.41,261.209"},{"id":"https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/114888/file/218446/transcript/62308/annotation/3","type":"Annotation","motivation":"transcribing","body":{"type":"TextualBody","value":"The other side claims it was a peaceful entry. Then for more than an hour, bodies were lugged out to the paddy wagon. And as one filled up, another paddy wagon was brought in. I think it's an outrageous tactic. They've got they've got a right to have their opinion. They don't have a right to assault people, to hit people, to trample people, to invade private property. If the law allows the murder of human beings, it's no law now that the states are free to make their own laws. The abortion debate has become even more passionate, and some pro-lifers seem to feel just speaking about their views isn't enough. Suzanne Collins, Channel 13 Eyewitness News. From Baltimore to Baton Rouge, the abortion issue heats up first to Baton Rouge, where the state Senate failed to override the governor's veto of what would have become the toughest pro-life bill in the country. With hundreds of pro-life and pro-choice demonstrators shouting outside. There were loud cries of override override. The bill, if enacted, would have sent people who performed abortions to jail for up to ten years. After the vote was taken, pro-life forces shouted, We won. Pro-Choice groups countered with We will win. Here in Baltimore, 44 people were arrested when pro-life demonstrators disrupted operations at the Planned Parenthood office downtown. Suzanne Collins was there when police moved in to make the arrests. But you'll have a record. I don't care just because it's wrong for a man to live with another man. Police were able to pick the Kryptonite locks fairly quickly. Then for more than an hour, bodies were lugged out to the paddy wagon and as one filled up, another paddy wagon was brought in. Chalk one up for the oh, is it played pretty good tonight up in Cleveland. And the big story here is this kid, the pitch John Mitchell. He was he's a rookie. He was open to Frank, came to the ball. The kid's got to be thinking to himself, this guy hates my guts sending me out there again. He did. Okay tonight. Let's go ahead and get into it. The O's desperately trying to break a six game slide against the Chicago White Sox. The Sox have beaten them six times this year. They sent rookie pitcher John Mitchell to the Hill to break The jinx, and his kid did it. In the fourth inning, the O's trailing one to nothing. Tim Hulett takes Greg Hibbert deep to right center. By the time Sammy Sosa gets to the ball, Tatum scores and Cal Ripken, who was on base, he just kind of cruised on in home. Tim Hulett Well, the stand up triple stole the fourth inning. Mike Devereaux, already with a hit, takes Hibbert deep to left. Watch this play. Lance Johnson in left field to the wall. Count on that one. That'll get you in the all star game any time. If the fans don't vote, we're going out of the sixth inning. Devereaux again, he's going to go to left field. They're playing some good ball. Go to the videotape. Here's the deal. In the fourth inning, Chris James against the A's, Kurt Young. Here's a blooper off the hands. The center field. Mitch Webster is going to score the game's only run file. And this one was just basically one zip. Tom Brookins tries to get home, lets say it in unison, out. Then in the sixth inning, Brook Jacoby up. He's going to take one up the middle to Dave Henderson. You can't run on this guy when the ball is hit You know two short outfield Chris James comes home lets say it again out. Count on that Bud Black pitched a great game for the Indians tonight.
