For now. A contract between the Baltimore County Police and the mass transit administration has been extended until September 1st. The same sort of agreements already exist between the MTA and city police, as well as Anne Arundel County Police. Those contracts run through next August. Security is also on the minds of those who visit libraries in Howard County. The concerns mounted after the rape of a teenager near Howard County Central Library in March. That prompted Howard County police and library personnel to review security at the library. Now, some library patrons want to know what was discovered during the review. Everywhere around the state, no matter where you saw the fireworks, it was just spectacular. And looks like that great weather will continue this weekend. A little more summer like warmer temperatures, lots of sunshine. If you're heading down the beach, basically sunny, there may be a few high clouds in the sky there late tomorrow or Sunday, but oh, no, you're still going to get a burn unless you've got some of that 15 plus one, as Kelly was just telling us about forecast. SIEGLER The temperatures conditions around the region right now, 80 up in Harrisburg, 82 in D.C. and Richmond, 78 at the beaches with sunshine. 80 in Dover, 79 Wilmington, 81 over in Salisbury. And a pleasant 72 up in Johnstown, P.A., this morning up in St Mary's, Pennsylvania, and Kane, Pennsylvania. But Northwest, 39 degrees this morning under clear skies and light winds. The Baltimore suburbs, pretty much we're in the mid fifties temperatures. They take a look at the afternoon high 81, a low at the airport was 58, 87, 66 is normal for this particular date. Southwest winds tomorrow at 6 to 12 and that's going to bring in some milder air. Now, when I say milder, I mean warmer air. Let's go with that 77 degree water temperature on the Chesapeake Bay, one foot chop. Take a look at the national radar. A lot of moisture in the southern portion of the United States. It's staying there. High pressure that's sitting right over us is acting as a block. All that glob of moisture. In fact, six miles west of Savannah, Georgia, today, they had seven inches of rain in one hour. Is that unbelievable? In one hour, about a month and a half or two months worth of rain around here in one hour. High pressure setting over us. We'll keep that moisture to our southeast. It's going to move out over the ocean. That's why there may be some showers in the Carolinas tomorrow. And from Virginia Beach southward to give me a lot of clouds heading down that way. Prepare for clouds. But for us, high pressure gives us a nice day tomorrow. Nice on Sunday, but the winds coming out of the west, that means warmer air is also coming in. So temperatures are going to be on the way up and as well as humidity by Sunday night and Monday. By Monday, it's going to be just plain out hot and humid there, 90 or the low nineties with a good chance by Monday afternoon and maybe some thunderstorms popping up around the region. Speaking of thunderstorms and rain, you can see all that stuff from actually from North Carolina all the way down to eastern sections of Mexico, a whole trough of low pressure causing showers and rain down there. We have a tropical storm at the Atlantic Ocean. We take a look at it right now, our next display. There you go. It's Bertha. It's about 1180 miles east of the Lesser Antilles, and it's moving to the west northwest pretty fast. Clipper, about 22 miles an hour. It's got 40 mile an hour winds now, but by later tomorrow, it might even become a minimal hurricane. But watch it carefully. It certainly bears watching over the next four or five or six day period as it heads across the Atlantic, you see it's pretty well-defined, a big blob of clouds out there, but it does have circulation, which makes it now a tropical storm a little closer back to home. Temperatures tomorrow look like this, 89, Hagerstown, Harrisburg, 92 in D.C. tomorrow. But it should still be on the dry side. Humidity levels tomorrow around 35, 40%. So it's still going to be comfortable. 85 in Ocean City, 80 for Atlantic City up at Dick Creek, about 82 degrees in the Baltimore region. At Westminster, about 89. Elkton, the same Chestertown, Napa and Frederick and 90 Easton, 92 for downtown Baltimore. So the forecast for the overnight tonight. Lovely. He had that to that ball game I wish. It's going to be a gorgeous night for baseball. Clear, pleasant light winds. Morning lows, 54 to 65. The evening temperatures tonight generally in the 70. So very, very comfortable. And then for tomorrow, plenty of sunshine. It'll be hot but still dry, high 86 to 92, a low tomorrow night of 68. The burden factor for your skin tomorrow, way up there in the high range at about eight out of a maximum ten. So do wear the sunscreen, particularly on your face, your arms, expose the flesh. Believe me, I know I've been burned and I've had some skin cancers taken off because of. When I was 12, 13, 14 years old, we thought nothing got nice burnt peel. That was it. You don't want to do that. So we now we've learned too much skin cancer in this world. The 24 year old charged with setting the deadly fire at an Ohio fireworks store was arraigned on eight counts of manslaughter today. But Todd Hall says he didn't do it. Police say he set off fireworks in the Scott Town store on Wednesday on a dare. The fire killed eight people and injured 12 others. Baltimore could have as many as 350 murders by the end of this year if the current homicide rate keeps pace. City killings hit a record high 353 back in 1993. They've been less since then, but now 169 people have been killed in the first six months of this year. This drive shaft goes all the way back to the rear wheels and is connected on each end of the drive shaft with what's called universal joints, affectionately known in the business as new joints. Now your joints wear out over a period of time. Normally the last 100,000, maybe 125,000 miles. And normally they're really nice and giving a little bit of warning before they go, because they'll normally make a clicking noise. So if you hear any kind of noise in a rear wheel drive vehicle, you want to have it checked out first. Make sure that universal joints are good. If they're not, the drive shaft has to be taken out and they need to be replaced. Now, universal joints are not very expensive, but the labor sometimes is a little intense in replacing the joints.
