Okay. Pope John Paul the second, made his first appearance in Saint Peter's Square since breaking his leg last month. Some 20,000 people gathered at the square for prayer services or a prayer service with the pontiff. The pope expressed thanks to God, his doctors and hospital personnel for his recovery from a broken thighbone that he suffered in a fall at the Vatican. In this morning's Medical Minute, Health watch reporter Sandra Pick me has a suggestion for how parents can stop their children from biting their nails. Good morning, everyone. At some time or another, most kids bite their fingernails, but almost a quarter of those kids will bite their nails as adults. This bad habit not only produces ugly finger tips, but may cause other complications as well. It's a bad habit, but it can be broken and it's important to stop it in children before it becomes firmly established. If you feel your child has a bad habit of biting his or her nails the most effective way, or at least one most effective way to get them to stop is to have the child's doctor put a dressing of benzocaine on the nails. This dressing is left on for several days. It protects the nails, permits them to grow again, and since they can't be bitten, breaks the habit.","format":"text/plain"},"target":"https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/115656/file/219482#t=2876.54,2964.14"},{"id":"https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/115656/file/219482/transcript/62512/annotation/31","type":"Annotation","motivation":"transcribing","body":{"type":"TextualBody","value":"If you have a health related question, write to us and care of doctor's house called ETV TV Hill. Well, convicted financier Tom Goldman awaits sentencing for his role in Maryland savings and loan scandal. The state of Maryland looks to collect money The woman apparently tried to hide in his commentary this morning. Michael Lasker calls it an $1,111 million misunderstanding. Tom Goldman's case would make a great movie, except there's no hero in sight. Gilman was convicted of stealing about $28 million from Bethesda's Community Savings and Loan, after which he conveniently fled the country. He was on the lam for four years, sailing the Mediterranean on his yachts and using phony passports before he was caught in Paris. After his conviction here, he claimed he was not only innocent, but completely broke. Slight problem. Prosecutors say they found a letter handwritten by Bellman in which he brags that he'll be out of prison and back on the beach drinking beer after he digs up money he's hidden away in foreign bank accounts. The good news is the feds have now found about $11 million in foreign banks. The better news is they'll use the money for schools and police. And here's one little added irony In a character letter to the judge. Goldman's daughter, Allison, says when she was in high school, her father made her return $10 to a bank when a teller overpaid her by mistake. $10, sure. But 11 million.
