I mean. My. You work. You worked in the news business. You around town, in and out of town, Up, down, down, down, so forth and so on. You've seen all the changes in this city. What do you think? I like it. I like it. The harbor was the most god awful site you probably ever run Indian in your life. When I came to this town. We used to go down there and shoot film. We did one where on alcoholism and the director and the writer showed me something that I still don't know whether it's true or not. But he said, in order to show that this guy had had taken his life and just life and he gave up, jumped in the harbor, know he took his own coat and jacket and folded them up very neatly and placed them right on the edge of the wharf. And this was where he jumped. But stuff like that in the banana boats that used to come in here, remember all those things. And now when you see it's almost like going to another it's like going to New York. San Francisco, when. Let me ask you. I'll get I'll say something and you give me a ten second response and I'll ask it the way it was then. At Baltimore Street The Block. I interviewed a stripper who was had a degree in psychology and spoke to the women's club in Roeland Park. That's changed. It has. Roland Park, too. Yeah, the the Baltimore skyline back in the 60s, 50s, early, there wasn't much skyline. There was a I remember B.G. and he building some peppers. They had what they call what I call as a kid, the Madison building, which. Yeah, that's what I was saying. And I couldn't remember the name, which is now, of course, Maryland now. Yeah. But it was the map. So. Yeah, that's changed. Yeah. Certain points of view. You stand down on Federal Park. Came to see the math. That's right. I have, cheese. Little Italy. I didn't care that much about Italian food, so I didn't get there very often. I remember Side of Tino's, and when I. That was one that I usually favorite. Okay. I can't. For your. For your effort in producing the dark corners. You received a very prestigious award. Is that correct? Yes. To the best of my knowledge, it is the most prestigious award in medical journalism. Albert Lasker Award. And that was presented to you by. Well, Abe Ribicoff was secretary of what wasn't health. I can't remember. It was a different known under a different name at that time. The president of NBC, the president of ABC. Leonard Golden Sun at that time was at the head table. Eunice Shriver, the president sister, was working so closely with the Kennedy Foundation on this as funny story about that, who were sitting at the table and the newsroom at Vail had sent a telegram of congratulation, which was delivered to me at the head table, and I looked like to take it over my shoulder, doing so as nervous as I was at this. Guests were down below and a lot of very important people down there. And here was the president's sister sitting next to me and the president of NBC over here. And I suddenly realized that with my hands under the table, maybe people were wondering what I was doing to the president sister. As it turned out, she asked me what happened. And I told her and she and I got down on the floor together and found my contact lens. But it was very fair for questions I could ask, but I'll just let it go. And so it was it was the last group, the Lasker Award. Yes, it was very prestigious. And it's. And you still you still have that? I do, indeed. I'm very much displayed very prominently and proudly in this home. So if there is an opportunity for you all for each card to do something similar, you feel like you still got it in you, maybe to give it one more shot. I don't know that it should be put that way and I'll leave that one right where it is. Okay. They've been kicking around with cylinders, which I do a lot and is very to film. She looks like she looks like to me like she's about 35 maybe. And I thought when she asked me my age because and she sort of it seemed to me I was reading into it, I guess she thought I hold. I am. The number one, the wrinkles. Number two, none of the vocal men up to me have lived really past 60. And now my brother. The poor guy lost his legs. You know, I mean, through the age of that, you know, I've aged. You know, stuff like that. And. And so quit smoking. Six hours before I had open heart surgery was in my last cigaret. Joan Mclauchlan I guess it is who is still on the staff down there. So my god, you got me down. So I was sitting there scared to death and my wife and I were separated, not divorced yet. So I got no encouragement from nowhere. Except she did call me the night before the surgery and said everything will be all right. And I thought, yeah, sure. The second day, I know I don't like it. I don't. Well, I'll tell you from experience, it's a lot better beating a dog. Long process. They're not in or they're not doing that at all.
