We've been fairly busy all morning just getting the trees off of the streets. A lot of damage in this area. Residents say it felt like hard winds caused by a small tornado that swept through early Saturday evening. I mean, it's going to split. When it goes, it goes. Judging by the looks of things, it was lightning that sheared this 100 foot tall oak tree into two pieces, sending one of them along with eight foot slices of bark into the Gordon's backyard. We heard the wind and then the rain. I mean, it was raining so hard wind that I've never heard. And I've lived here all my life. I've never heard wind that hard. Part of the tree fell onto his deck. Another into his brand new poll, part of the deck there. The roof is sort of sagging and that part of the deck, the rails caved in. But this kind of rain, if we get a bunch of these, we could catch up eventually. So we're looking for some more rain coming in on Wednesday. Let's go ahead and look outside of temperatures right now, because the other thing that changed when the front came through was the air mass. And although the humidity was still somewhat noticeable today, certainly temperatures nowhere near the 92 we got to yesterday where it's 77 degrees right now. Still a couple of scattered showers along the eastern shore, but nothing really threatening us very much today. Our high temperature so far coming in from the airport, only 80 degrees. That's six degrees below normal. Last night, we didn't get down to the normal mark. We stayed at 71 for our overnight low. If you're going out of the bay tomorrow, look for winds northeast, shifting to the east, 5 to 10 knots and the water temperature. It's right around 80 degrees. Now, here's the bigger satellite view showing that area of cloud is an activity that moves along the front, pushing offshore right now. And it's kind of slowed down a bit. That's what kept us in the clouds today. And some folks still got some more shower activity, but we haven't gotten any reports of significant accumulations. So for tomorrow, somewhat warmer, but not a bad day for Monday in August. 88 degrees are anticipating for the high tonight. Cloudy skies during the evening hours. That's what we're seeing right now. But then clearing later on, kind of a seasonable overnight low of 64 degrees. I won't call that cool. Call that seasonably mild tomorrow. A fair amount of sunshine, a bit less humid, but still kind of warm with a high topping out at 88 degrees on the five day forecast. And again, looking for rain. It looks like as we get on into Wednesday, maybe late Tuesday, Tuesday night, there'll be enough humidity around for another perhaps bout of thunderstorms. And that should give us some much needed rain. Rain should be clearing out by Thursday as it temps will drop back a little bit and it looks like Friday will turn into a pretty decent day also. How do you strike out for batters in one inning? Well, what you do is hired Chuck Finley of the California Angels to pitch for you. That's how Chuck Finley was in Motown today. Detroit, Michigan, taking on the Tigers in the first. Finley gets D.V. Cruz with a pitch in the dirt that he gets one Encarnacion swinging. Then Dean Palmer strikes out. But watch as the ball gets past the catcher. All right. Up comes Tony Clark. And remember him last weekend? Hello, everybody. I'm Pat Warren. And here's what people are talking about tonight. Breaking news in North Baltimore. A little more than an hour ago, five medics were called to a multiple shooting near York and Cold Spring. Eyewitness News live at Belgian and Frisby, where you can McGehee is gathering information. What can you tell us about what's going on out there now? You Kenda. Pat I'm in the North Baltimore community of Pen Lucy, where, as you said, around 950 tonight, five paramedics responded to a multiple shooting here on the corner of Belgian and Wills B Avenues. We are live here with Scott Rowe from the Baltimore City Police Department. And he's going to kind of give us some information about what happened. I know it's all just coming in, but can you give us an idea of what happened, What investigators have been termed this pointed at around around 9:39 p.m.. Uniform patrol officers from the northern district responded to a call for service. Four shots fired in the 800 block of Belgian Avenue Avenue. Upon arrival, they found five victims, all under the ages of 16, in front of that location, suffering from gunshot wounds. One of them at this point appears to be serious in nature. That male victim was taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital is in serious condition. The other four victims at this point, nothing appears to be life threatening. Do you have any motive for the shooting right now? At this point, investigators are still piecing together evidence at the scene, interviewing witnesses and still trying to exactly determine what actually happened at this location tonight.","format":"text/plain"},"target":"https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/136503/file/253089#t=1593.9,1693.52"},{"id":"https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/136503/file/253089/transcript/71206/annotation/17","type":"Annotation","motivation":"transcribing","body":{"type":"TextualBody","value":"What about the suspect? According to investigators, he was armed with an unknown caliber semiautomatic handgun. Scott, according to eyewitnesses, there was talk of retaliation. And then 20 minutes later, we have confirmed there was another shooting about a block or two away on court. Do you know if those two shootings are related? There was a shooting at approximately 10 or 15 minutes after the shooting. A call for service came out to police. At this point is undetermined if it is related. Investigators are still trying to piece together the information at the scene of the crime. All right. Thanks a lot. And again, just to recap, we had a multiple shooting here on Belgian and Willoughby Avenues. There are at least four victims and one is in serious condition right now. Ben. Thank you for your candor. While this shooting was going on, the candidates in the Baltimore City mayor's race were offering ways to protect its citizens. Eyewitness News was there as the kings and the queen and the city's mayoral shuffle put up their dukes on WCBS radio and took on crime in the streets. It's like that poor 13 year old girl who was shot the other day in stray gunfire, who was not an intended victim, who was committing no crime other than walking in front of her own home. All of that sort of random violence starts to go down as we drive it indoors. We certainly don't have enough officers on the streets and we've got to have to make them foot patrols. But I also propose that we have an auxiliary police force put in place.","format":"text/plain"},"target":"https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/136503/file/253089#t=1693.82,1777.94"},{"id":"https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/136503/file/253089/transcript/71206/annotation/18","type":"Annotation","motivation":"transcribing","body":{"type":"TextualBody","value":"These are community people that volunteer to be the eyes and the ears of the police department. People in Anna Randall County are counting their pennies after the cost of cleanup from yesterday's thunderstorm. The rain relief was welcome, but considering the damage from the storm, it wasn't much of a bargain. Tim Williams reports on the areas hardest hit. When the trees started falling, residents of Anne Arundel County started calling the Department of Public Works. We're in there watching golf and the winds are just whipping back and forth. And all of a sudden it's just a big pop, you know, and looked at the wind and the tree laying on the road. We've been fairly busy all morning just getting the trees off the streets. This is the Christ Temple Church and this was the resource center, a place meant for giving. But last night someone decided to take at least $50,000 in property loss. This is how, through a dilapidated lot, once a decayed building. Deacon Dixon says the city demolished it, mutilated a chunk of his church. This gaping hole big enough for a burglar. They entered through the broken wall, but they exited through this back door. And with them they took 5 or 6 computers for television set to air conditioning. And these copper pipes that apparently have street value. There's also property damage, lots of it. Last night we had major flooding as because the pipe the copper piping was removed, physically cut. So today the church tries to repair the damage inside and out, financial and personal. They've come in and destroyed the building, so we have to do even more work. We have to double our efforts and double our resources just to get back to where we were that we can open the door and have people come in. Ironic, isn't it, that such an act of greed has inspired such an act of grace? The Bible says, and our church motto is With God. All things are possible. And that's what we believe.
