We're going to see some excitement, it looks like, in the weather this afternoon. We are. Yeah, we've got a good chance of seeing some pretty decent thunderstorms. You know, whenever you get this amount of humidity in the air, of course, it's like summertime and that's occurred in the summertime. You know the change. Cool air pushes. Air activates that boom. Thunderstorms. That's a big part of our forecast today. Actually, My dogs will be under the bed. Yeah, well, some similarities shared on the bed if the worst case scenario develops. Yeah. Anna Monroe County police are looking for the person who shot and killed an Arnold woman yesterday in front of her home. The 47 year old Joann Valentine was murdered around 4:00 Sunday morning. Police say Valentine was shot after she approached a car that followed her home. She later died in shock trauma. Authorities don't believe that Valentine knew her killer. Police are looking into the possibility the murder is connected to the carjacking of a pizza delivery man in the same area on Saturday night. Valentine and her husband own two nightspots in an immortal county. It was a violent weekend in Baltimore City with a number of shootings and at least one homicide. City police tell us a 24 year old man was killed in an execution like slaying in southwest Baltimore yesterday. Ronald Smith was found bound, gagged and shot to death outside his home on North Element Street. So far, police have no arrests in the case. As Chuck alluded to, the traffic came a few minutes ago. Some spots, particularly north and west in the valleys. The fog does get a little thick. I saw some areas out to the west my way in that we're on the verge of getting sick. Here's the forecast, though, for today. We're looking for clouds and sunshine above that fog. I mean, what's the sun gets up above the horizon here along with shortly after 7:00, the fog will begin to dissipate. But a shower is possible during the day. But as you hear from the sound effects that is the headline event in today's weather is that afternoon thunderstorm as a distinct possibility because that afternoon thunderstorm could end up being on the hefty side, shall we say. So look for that to extend into the evening hours, then clearing and turning cooler, 60 degrees for the overnight low. He's a little sad. He's been here all night, folks. We know that. My. My Orioles. They finally were eliminated from contention in the American League East. And you knew it was coming during the awful road trip. But when it finally happens, it's still kind of sad. Yeah, but you have to look on the bright side. They were playing horrible in May and the season could have been over then and they wrote it out all the way to September. Had their ups and downs, but at least they made it exciting. And so the last week of the season. That's right. Yeah, I knew you'd find a way to make this possible. And they still have a chance for second place. Yes, they do. And there were some encouraging things. If you saw the sports section yesterday. Sun Sun has an in-depth interview with Peter Angelos. There was the Orioles new owner, and as it turns out, he's ready to open up his wallet, spend some money and do whatever it takes to win the pennant. The bottom line. That's right. So, yeah, it's always nice to hear what he's opened up his wallet. Well, not not he's not going to spend everything, but he's willing to spend more money than the former ownership did. I want nothing, Virgil. Over to win. Yes. Yes, it is. Okay. So, although I need to apologize to some people, I was supposed to go to the game yesterday and never made it. And then as this morning and all the county police are investigating the murder of an Arnold woman, she was gunned down in front of her home early Sunday morning. Baltimore City police have arrested a suspect in last week's double murder of a mother and daughter in West Baltimore. And the Orioles are officially officially knocked out of contention in the American League East. We'll try to find a highlight from yesterday's dreary doubleheader at Hampden Yards. 603. We'll get to that in a minute because I do want to say, you know, we get people's attention about the weather today because although it is rather damp and dreary outside, it feels kind of mild, sort of feel summery. We do have a concern about thunderstorms developing this afternoon. And there is a chance I mean, there are no guarantees in this, but you're the noise there. There is a chance these could be pretty hefty thunderstorms. Let me run down the forecast for you right now. Once the fog clears this morning and that will happen. But here's the big event that we want to keep an eye out for, at least for the afternoon. A front pushing this way will trigger an afternoon thunderstorm. There is a good chance that afternoon thunderstorm could end up being on a hefty variety, maybe even a severe thunderstorm that will carry over into the evening hours. So we'll make that big note up there. Then, of course, after the front pushes through, it will be replacing this moist air with a new air mass clearing and turning cooler and drier. Overnight low, dropping down to 60 degrees. Then tomorrow, a delightful early autumn day, 72 for a high sunshine with a few clouds breezy and cooler. Well, as long as we're talking about that front, let's open up and look at the national radar, because that shows clearly the front line delineated by that line of thunderstorms and arc extending all the way from the tip of Texas up into southern New York state. And this is early morning right now. So the thunderstorms really aren't all that well develop. And one of the things that is of concern to us, of course, is that the front will be pushing through here in the late afternoon to early evening. And that's the time when thunderstorms are at their greatest during the day to night cycle. Here's how this is all developed during the last 24 hours or so. And this has been a pretty active storm all the way from the time it came out of the Rockies till has moved to the east. Good morning, John. Hi, Sandra. Good morning, everybody. It is Dr. Bob said that fog will be a factor outside the Beltway, mainly around the area. We're still getting some reports that the visibility in some spots is less than a half mile. So definitely allow for some extra time there. Well, we're going to try to find something positive to say about the Orioles. Well, actually, there are positive things to say about heroes. Didn't have a good day yesterday. Police have not identified a motive in the killing of a New York City man in a drive by shooting north of downtown Miami. The 40 year old Bronx man died last night after being shot at while driving with his relatives on the Palmetto Expressway. He'd been a passenger in the car with his cousin and his cousin's wife, whom he was visiting in Miami. Police say the killer lowered his car window, fired once at the victim, then sped away. The killing is the latest in a string of visitor slayings that have rocked Florida. 618. Yes. Medical minute. Okay. My granny. I can talk a lot about granny today. She's. It's making a comeback because people are now going back to the old fashioned ways. It comes from it's an extract from the witch Hazel Shrub. I don't know if you ever know that as a witch Hazel Shrub. I never knew this. It was more than 100 years ago. The Indians first extracted this witch hazel extract. Extracted this witch hazel stuff. Exactly what did Carter know about Price's relationship with her students and when did he know it, and what did he know about it and what did he do about it? An investigation has been completed, but school officials say they're keeping the results quiet until November. The only problem we may have this morning is some fog in some areas. I mean, it lays kind of misty in a lot of places, but there are only localized areas where the fog is. Well, we'll slow down our commute a little bit once a sun gets up higher in the sky. The fog will burn off of a mixture of clouds and sunshine for the most part. During the morning to the early part of the afternoon, a wandering showers a possibility. But the big thing we're looking at is a path is a possibility of a pretty strong possibility of a hefty thunderstorm this afternoon. High temperatures summer like 82. Now, this evening, that thunderstorm possibility continues and into the, let's say, 9:00 timeframe. And then we'll be clearing out as a front pushes through, ushering in a drier, more autumn like air mass, overnight lows, 60 degrees. And tomorrow you'll feel it as a quite different day. Sunshine with a few clouds breezy and cooler and the rest of the week looks like it will be afternoons in the 60s.
