Baltimore is a 24 hour city full of noise, vitality, activity. Baltimore is a city alive. And as we follow her through one day, we detect a certain quality that symbolizes Baltimore, a quality that suggests in some indefinable manner that Baltimore is a living city forever. Never sleep. Or if she sleep, she will not live. Focal point the city. Even the horses are up early. Arab wagon fish peddlers on their way to market to pick the flounders still packed inside to choose the hard shell crabs that slept last night in the Chesapeake Bay to market to market before the city arrived. But traffic isn't limited to horse and wagon. The early morning shift rides bumper to bumper while quiet industry waits for men to punch in. All right. Everybody up. You can buy your news for $0.07 or listen to it on your way into town. Breakfast, sir. And and everybody's going to work. Well, nearly everybody. And if you don't belong to a carpool or if you want to avoid parking problems, kindly step to the rear. Next stop off for school. A lady by. But. Sometimes you might even miss your butt. Well, just kiss Mommy good bye and thank. The old must give way to the new. And. And the new rises skyward. No. The assembly line never stopped. Baltimore is fed by her port fed lumber. Who you will. And bad rap. Last Sunday's funnies. And yesterday's garbage littered the playground of the poor. Air conditioned apartments serve the families in summer and winter, and landlords offer the best in accommodation for those who can afford sunken feeling and the finer things in life. Let us now praise famous men. Including some who are used as playground. School's out. And as the playgrounds disappear, the traffic lights that homeward glow. Places, everybody. Let's walk through it. One. I get that. And away we go. That. Automobile. Automobile. There are just so many automobile. The last of the traffic, the end of day, Twilight time and the Builders of Tomorrow wreck. Let's see what's for supper. Olive, then I suppose you. And after supper, not everyone goes home. Tourists and visitors look for relaxation. That's certainly something which makes this city different. The Milky Way of night people. And yet somehow the park is worse than the bite. Everything looks bigger. Everything sounds better. Bigger and better than it really is. No, it's not a high sport of doctor, Nor is it the eighth wonder of the world. No better, no worse than the red. A mistress of ceremony, a local comedian, a honky tonk piano and a cute set of pipe. And the star attraction, a mink coat keeping time to raucous music. Modern dance class was never like this. But that pirouette looked familiar to the patrons of the art world. It was just plain fun. Lights out 24 hours in a city alive with people. Vitality, building. Joy, pathos. Fun that.
