A few folks in the state who didn't see any snow today. This is the way it looked here at lovely TV Hill. A lot of focus just to show you that it was snowing here today and we did have a light dusting in places like Manchester, Hampstead and Moncton and northern parts of Baltimore County and Westminster also got some light flurry activity. One much but we had a little bit. Then the sun came out, the clouds started to move out to the east, beautiful picture here down some folks working on some big ships. This is nothing like Jerry Turner's boat, Jerry's is quite a bit bigger than this. Let's take a look at our national radar tonight and we see our next weathermaker. This is a little bit of snow activity. It's still occurring over portions of western Pennsylvania right now. That will die out, will not affect us. This is an area of just partly cloudy weather over portions of Ohio and Indiana. Tomorrow night, another little storm center with some snow now occurring, as you can see, from northern Illinois back into Minnesota and most of Iowa right now getting some light snow. This system is moving east, southeast. It's gonna kinda make a dip into the northern portions of Maryland. We might see another brief flurry of snow. Friday night and then behind that some more fair weather for saturday and then late sunday another precipitation maker moves across the country a chance of some more precip here sunday into early monday probably rain could start as a little bit of wet snow but it's likely to be rain by that time should be a little warmer let's take a look at our cloud cover map tonight we have that cloud you can see out to the west that's going to be affecting us as i said on sunday in the midwest an area of cloudiness associated with a little low pressure system That's headed southeast. Cloudiness in the Western Maryland mountains will kind of break up as it moves across the region later on tonight we expect clear skies and very cold temperatures tonight clear and very mild temperatures across the south warming up the next couple of days even Denver is going to see temperatures in the mid-50s after all that snow tomorrow would be in the mid-fifties things are warming up quite a bit out west but very cold weather let's take a look at tomorrow's map very cold weathers moving to the northern part of the United States The jet stream bringing extremely cold weather from Canada, temperatures as low as 20 to 30 below zero up in the Yukon, a couple of spots below 40 below zero, even temperatures near or below zero across northern sections of the United States tomorrow. But the real cold stuff is going to kind of dip down to about Chicago and then move out to the northeast through portions of central and western New England. Here in Maryland, we're going to be right on the borderline between mild air to the south, 50s and 60s, and the very cold air to north. And this borderline setup gives us the possibility of these. Little episodes of precipitation. Friday night and again on Sunday and Monday. Taking a look around the state, temperatures have dropped down below freezing in many sections. 28 in Morgantown, 34 in Martinsburg, 39 in D.C., 32 in Westminster, 31 up in Harrisburg, over on the eastern shore right now, 32 Dover, 33 Wilmington, 40 now in Salisbury, winds tomorrow southwest, 8 to 15 miles an hour. We'll have a pretty decent day tomorrow, but look for clouds to be on the increase later in the day. Here's our forecast for Tonight, clear and definitely cold, low down to 20. To 30 degrees in town, down by the inner harbor. Tomorrow then, sunshine followed by the clouds moving in, and it could flurry by tomorrow night. High of 44, low tomorrow night, 31 degrees. Then a sunny, cool Saturday. More clouds later on Sunday with some rain, or perhaps some white snow sometime Sunday. Odds favor rain.
text/plain
https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/149182/file/273807#t=1259.94,1505.02
https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/149182/file/273807/transcript/80235/annotation/64
Speaker 5: We keep flirting with this snow. It's the second annual Beltway Classic and right now Archbishop Carroll and Calvert Hall are really going at it and just a second ago as you were talking Al, some guy from Calvert hall just crammed one through right out of Dr. J. We're going to talk more about this classic in a minute and some exciting players on the floor and we'll talk to some of the coaches. But right now let's talk baseball and those winter meetings in Nashville are really Heating up. First of all, it seems that finding a new commissioner for all that mess, Major League Baseball right now, is about as easy as balancing the national budget. Not that there are any similarities of importance of course, but the baseball owners, like Congress right now can't seem to find their way out of the woods where it's concerned. So they'll go with things as they now stand. And what that means is Bowie Kuhn will stay on as baseball's comas are, at least until March 1. But says Brewer owner, Bud Selick, no longer than that. Selick is heading the search committee and originally said Bowie's successor would be selected by now. James Baker and Olympic Chairman Peter Uberoff are still the leading men to take his place. Meanwhile, the deal the Orioles and the Twins were trying to make and we told you about the last couple of days for John Castino has apparently fallen through. That's all right, coming through. Fans, lots of seats available over here at the second annual Beltway Classic. Alright, John Castino, the key player in that trade we told you about with the Twins, has signed a four-year contract with the twins now. Does that affect whether or not it comes to the Orioles? Yes it does, because apparently the contract he assigned with Minnesota is not to the liking of Hank Peters and Orioles Brass, who don't want to bring him in with a four year deal and for all the incentives that have been included in that new deal. So right now it looks like they'll go after Julio Cruz, the free agent's second baseman. With Chicago right now and the thinking there is that Rich Dower would move over from second to third base or else Gary Renneke and they just move Cruz into the second base spot. Another Oriole hopes that they're trying to pull today is the swing of deal with the St. Louis Cardinals. They would bring Neil Allen, the pitcher over here. Still that's all speculation right now. And nothing, nothing set in stone. Other news from Nashville and we have lots of it. The twins with Castino re-signed have traded slugger Gary Ward to Texas for Ed Smithson, John Butcher and a minor leaguer. Now Ward can really crush it, but you've got to wonder why the Rangers got rid of two promising prospects for Ward. You might remember Butcher as the guy who one hit the Orioles back in August, and the catcher that night was Jim Sundberg, and he is no longer a Ranger in another deal. Sundberg today was dealt to the Brewers for catcher Ned Yost and pitcher Dan Scarpetta. Sundberg is a six-time gold glover, a former all-star, and a solid hitter, but only hit 200 last year for the Rangers, but he will probably force Milwaukee in to move in Ted Simmons. Into the designated hitter role. Another trade, Dusty Baker to the A's, but that has been put on hold because the Dodgers, who are willing to give up Baker to Oakland for a pair of minor leaguers, but Baker says no, he has a no trade clause. He's also a 10 and five man, and right now doesn't want to go to the eight because there he'd probably be a designated hiter. He doesn't wanna do that with the outfield rich A's. Now, back to basketball. At UMBC today. A tournament with a slightly different format than the one we're seeing here today and we're going to talk about that in a minute. Well, here we are right now. The Roy Rogers Classic. This is action between Archbishop Kehoe and Western Towson Catholic from Philadelphia. Kehoe is in the, or Western Towson Catholic, I'm sorry. Kehoe's in the white. The tournament runs through Sunday and it crowns the champs in both boys and girls high school division, men's and women's division. Kehoe lost today, by the way, 50. Now with me right now is Bob Austin. And Bob is the coach from Tolentine from the front. Tolentime.
text/plain
https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/149182/file/273807#t=2245.27,2473.4
https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/149182/file/273807/transcript/80235/annotation/103
https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/149182/file/273807#t=2473.91,2475.53
https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/149182/file/273807/transcript/80235/annotation/104
Speaker 25: It's been a rough day for him, people walking through the shot and everything.
