Well, wherever you happen to be, there were some really feisty storms last night. VWI recorded 1 .84 inches, just under two inches of rain. There are some thunderstorms in the radar, too, and we'll show you that as we get along here. Ha! Oh, what a nice day today. I mean, if you like August weather, this is what it looked like. Flowers and everything all in bloom, and everybody enjoying their day. 82 degrees, temperature right now. Wind southeast at 5, humidity 63. The barometer is beginning to fall. Our next tides, high and low, from Fort McHenry. sun. sets tonight at seventeen minutes after eight o 'clock well around the area the highs today were pretty much in the mid to upper eighties we had a high today of eighty six degrees currently it's eighty four down in annapolis and eighty two degrees in washington eighty six dover 88 degrees out on the eastern shore, out in good old Rehoboth Beach and Ocean City area. Off toward the mountains, there are some showers now beginning to build up. They had some heavy ones down here along the foothills. The Culpepper, Virginia area, up near Winchester, close to two inches of rain. The showers really aren't moving very rapidly. We'll look at those in a second. 80 degrees, the current rating in Cumberland. And Martinsburg, West Virginia is 82, and it's 81 degrees up in Lancaster, PA. Now on a local radar, this is on the wide scan, and you can see the showers I was just talking about a couple of minutes ago. whether or not we are gonna in the immediate baltimore area right here get anything heavy like we had last night as a matter of conjecture right now they're gonna be just jumping up all over the place this is the kind of weather for it some of the folks down here are getting some fairly heavy showers and also up here in southern portions of uh... in the atlantic city and around cape may area and a few down here in the mouth of the chesapeake bay all moving in a southeasterly direction national radar from coast to coast shows a lot of shower activities but none of them have to do with a frontal system moving in our direction. There just aren't any, really. High pressure is off the coast here, and it's going to stay that way. On the cloud cover map, you see where it is right here. As we move on to the clouds, ta -da. There it is. Otherwise, a very featureless map with just a few clouds here and there and scattered showers here and here and here and here. And the only frontal system is right about here. On tomorrow's map, you'll see it. As we look at tomorrow's map, that's it. The cooler weather is on the other side of it. The jet stream with drier air is running from, get this, Alaska to Hudson Bay to Labrador. Everything cool is north of that. Everything warm is south of that. So on the map for tomorrow, you see 90s in the southeast, upper 80s in our area, 90s up here in areas that usually are in the 70s. It'll be 100 in the desert area. and out toward l a they'll have eighty six but the seventies along the west coast for the most part otherwise what we see is what we get and it's gonna kinda stick around this way i'm afraid to say tonight's weather hazy and sticky scattered thunderstorms possibly maybe a heavy one patchy fog later seventy to seventy five degrees and then tomorrow's outlook warm humid hazy afternoon thundershower or thunderstorm high of eighty seven degrees and a five -day forecast look at that all week long it's gonna look just about the same as we're having today. Once in a while an upper air disturbance will sneak through and we may get a little more rain or a little less rain. We have a threat of showers all week long but it's going to be hazy sunshine and humidity. Temperatures 87, 89, 89, 91, 91 and that is it. A pretty easy weather forecast but pretty typical for this time of the year Debbie.
text/plain
https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/144435/file/266944#t=898.12,1102.25
https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/144435/file/266944/transcript/77121/annotation/39
Speaker 3: Yeah, I think even I can remember that one. O's and J's at the stadium, and of course that'll feature Mike Flanagan going on the mound for Baltimore while Toronto counters with Jim Clancy. After a two -hour 17 -minute rain delay last night, Blue J's whipped the O's at five to two. Highlights of that one for you right now. We'll pick up the activity here. This is Buck Martinez who looks like he has a double down the left field line but Gary Renneke makes the play as he comes up and guns down Martinez by the way Martinez not one of your swiftest of runners they don't use a stopwatch with him they use a calendar to time him around the bases Eddie Murray tattoos this shot into the right field stands that made it one nothing in favor of the O's then the range came down for two hours plus Finally, we get back to live action again. Great play by Alfredo Griffin right here in the hole. A fine defensive play by that great fielding shortstop. Then, George Bell right back to the box. That hits McGregor. And that takes him out of the game with the finger injury. Then, the big blow of the night. Bill Swaggerty serves up this one and that is Willie Aikens with a three run shot to right center. Final score five to two. Also last night the twins moved back in the first place in the AL West beating California four to two. Tom Bronatski with a home run. Bill Slaggarty. right there. And the White Sox, a team struggling to get back in the first place in the AL West battling the Brewers this afternoon, a team going nowhere in the AL East. Here's some action for you right now, fifth inning. Greg Walker, not really known as a tremendous long ball hitter. Well, here in the fifth inning, he tags a solo shot that made One to one. And if that wasn't enough, well he came back in the next inning. Walker at the plate. Say goodbye. History, see you later. Gone, right field. This one is kissed good. And that made it four to one. And the final in that game, Chicago 7, Milwaukee 3, as the win went to Tom Siever. Texas lost to Boston at five to two. Highlights, long ball. The difference in that game again. And that was one on the screen. Well, we don't know who hit it, but I do. Dwight Evans, and there he is right there. Wade Boggs then tattoos this shot for a home run. And if that's not enough, how about Jackie Gutierrez with another shot right here. Over the green monster, five to two, Boston won over Texas. Toronto and Baltimore, of course, tonight at the stadium. Highlights for you following the Olympics. Kansas City was better than Detroit at nine to five.
