Ah, you know, whatever happened to muggy August, though, it got about as cold last night as it could get in August. We have the current statistics on T .V. Hill, and you'll see the temperature has dropped a little bit from what we had for a high today. Right now it's 68 degrees, that's 20 degrees in the Celsius charts, 34 percent humidity. Wind southeast at 7, and the barometer is steady. Here are our tides. Thanks for watching! High at 229, low at 710, it should be tomorrow. Sunset 745 and sunrise at 630. How cold was it last night? Well, it was a record breaker, and as I think Rick mentioned to you a little bit ago, BWI got down to 49, one degree below the record. Dulles was 38 degrees out of Dulles. By contrast, at National Airport, their low was 51. Oakland, up at Garrett County, 28. Cumberland, 36. Martinsburg, 40. Thanks for watching! Atlantic City 41 and Wilmington 43 are about two dozen cities across the nation that had record low temperatures last night Tonight's gonna be another close to record setter and then things are gonna begin to change the weather patterns are changing right now I'm standing in the shadow here on Ford Avenue Ford Avenue in South Baltimore You can see way down there Bethlehem shipyards one of the ships down there It got up to a very pleasant 72 today. It was a beautiful day and everybody's saying Well, it's supposed to be hot in August, so it's supposed to be normally 90 degrees. No, it's supposed to be normally about 83, believe it or not. Only here in Baltimore, we're pretty used to temperatures being in the 90s, usually above normal. As it happened, we were below normal, but like I said, things are changing. Sky -high, the radar, nothing but ground clutter as of the moment. There is no precipitation in sight this time tomorrow. There probably will be. Here's a satellite shot. Sky -track. And the big high -pressure system that brought us the cold, the Canadian high pressure, is off the eastern shore now. It's funneling in some clouds from the east to the west, bringing some showers along in the Gulf Coast. This is the next frontal system that's creeping down on us, and there are a few wispy clouds over us right now coming across Pennsylvania and just over the top of Baltimore and the state of Maryland. There will be some rain associated with it. A lot of rain back here in Illinois, Wisconsin, and into Iowa. That'll all be coming in late tomorrow afternoon or tomorrow evening. AccuWeather says our map will look like this tomorrow. As things move on towards us rain will have a mixture of clouds and sun with our first showers probably beginning tomorrow afternoon on into the evening and you'll see in the five -day forecast gonna probably hang around on tuesday the next system is back over in this direction and we'll be looking at that probably a wednesday or thursday so it looks as i said the patterns are changing the chilly weather the uh... record setters will be around tonight and then tomorrow you'll see will be getting some more humidity from the south and some rain in the frontal system coming in from the north. which will make temperatures a little bit more like they should be for this time of the year and bring in some rain, which we really haven't had in a long time. The current temperatures, as I said, 68 in Baltimore, it's 70 in D .C. now, 67 up along the Pennsylvania border. It's 62 in Dover and 66 at Ocean City. It'll be 73 out along the ocean tomorrow. It'll be partly sunny and partly cloudy. We don't have the five -day. I'm just told we don't have the five -day, but I can tell you what it is. We have a tide at 229. That'll be our high tide, low tide at 911. Sunrise, 630, and sunset at 745. Well, our instant eye crew attempted to take a picture tonight of the moon. There it is, you see. It's the first quarter of the moon and not a harvest moon. Some of the clouds, the wispy clouds, are beginning to come along in front of it. That's from a frontal system that is rapidly approaching us. It didn't get to 73 degrees for a high in Baltimore. Thank you for watching! Here's the radar, and there is really nothing in the way of precipitation on it. 73 -hour high for the day was 10 degrees below normal. Usually we're sweltering, muggy weather in August, and 90, 92 degrees. Doesn't look like anything like that between now and the time September gets here. It's all because of a very heavy Canadian high -pressure system, which right at the moment is out over the eastern shore. Thank you for watching! It's right over at Ocean City and a little bit to the east of that and because of that it's very calm and that's why it's kind of cool out there at 51 degrees at the moment at Ocean City, 52 in Salisbury. It's not going to be quite as cool as last night but all over the northeast and the mid -Atlantic states it looks like temperatures will again get pretty close to the records. 50 degrees in the city is our record 54 at BWI and we're either going to come close, tie or maybe be just a tad below it. 61 in DC right now, there are southerly winds and they will predominate tomorrow at 8 to 15, 55 in Norfolk and it's already 50 in Cumberland. We'll be, as I said, bringing some moisture by late in the afternoon. We'll have a mixture of clouds and sun. And here's the five -day forecast from our dear friends at AccuWeather. The start of your week off, clouds and sun tomorrow, 78 degrees. Tuesday, some rain lingering around and showers in the afternoon. Temperatures, as you see, back up to normal. Thirty -four games left to play, including seven with the Brewers the last two weekends of the season. The Orioles now go to Toronto for a three game series. Two of those games will be played in the afternoon, and it's back home for a series against the twins next weekend. Mike Flanagan won his 11th game. He did not walk a batter allowed, only six hits and pitched a really extremely well. More than 25 ,000 watched the game at the stadium. It was a big promotion and it game took only two hours and nine minutes to play, which is a rarity now in baseball. The Rangers scored first in the very first inning of play with a two out Texas first inning and the batter is Larry Parish. And he singles to the left side of second base scoring Buddy Bell. And the Rangers had an early one to nothing lead. Things didn't look too well at that point, But. course there's plenty of time in a baseball game. Frank Tanana retired the first nine, but in the fourth line Cicada's grounder passed Buddy Bell, was misplayed for an error. Cicada moved to second on a ground out and came home when Eddie Murray came up with the first of three base hits for the game for Eddie. He looped the single to shallow center. Cicada scores easily from second and the game was tied at one after four. Murray's second single drove in Cicada with the Orioles second run. This in the sixth inning Cicada had singled with sacrifice to second and came home when Eddie Murray's base hit. Benny Aiella drives in what proved to be the deciding run with this single to the left field corner. Cal Ripken who had walked scores Murray who was safe at third and Aiella at second on the play. Larry Parrish is home at the left his eleventh home run of the year closed the gap to three to two but that's how it ended. Flanagan retired twelve in order at one point and the Orioles win it by a score of three to two as we check the American League scoreboard. Milwaukee down Oakland eight to one Cecil Cooper hit a three run homer his twenty Next! The Brewers lost last night, by the way, so their lead is five and a half on Boston, six on the Orioles with 34 left. Boston down California, nine to three. Jim Rice and Dwight Evans hit three -run homers. Wade Boggs had a two -run shot. Dennis Eckersley wins his first game in more than a month, his 12th win. Kansas City down Chicago, seven to four. George Britt hit his 1500th base hit. Larry Gura became the American Lakes first 17 -game winner. The Royals now lead California by two games after six wins in a row. Amos Otis knocked in two with a double. The Yankees over Toronto, eight to two. Dave Winfield with two homers, four RBIs on the game. Winfield now has 25 home runs. Lee Mazzelli also hit a round tripper and Tommy John pitched a three -hitter for win number 10. Minnesota beat Cleveland six to three. Sal Butera had a two -run single. Andre Thornton, a three -run homer, his 28th. Detroit and Seattle scoreless in the fourth inning just underway out in Seattle. Now at Chase Stadium in New York, the Mets lost their 13th straight game with the Braves down 4 -3 and hitting in the 6th. Glenn Hubbard's single to left off Pat Zachary ties the game at 4, Claude L. Washington scores. In the Braves' 7th, Rafael Ramirez grounders misplayed by the Mets shortstop Bobby Baylor. Jerry Royster comes all the way around from first as the Braves take a 5 -4 lead. Claude L. Washington adds to the Braves' lead with a single to center. Ramirez scores to put the Braves on top six to four. Washington three hits, two RBIs and two runs scored. The Braves scored three more in the eighth two when Rafael Ramirez singles to center to drive in Benedict and Butler. Now on that National League scoreboard, Atlanta nine four over the Mets.
