She was waiting to cross the street when a man driving a Burgundy colored van jumped out, threw her in the van and tied her up. She says she was driven around until the van developed engine trouble and then she managed to get away. Police haven't released the victim's name and they're looking for the suspect. There's a shocking follow up tonight to the suicide of a Baltimore County priest. Father Thomas Smith of St Stephen's Parish committed suicide last Friday night, the day after he was placed on administrative leave for alleged misconduct with a parishioners son. Archbishop William Keeler told the congregation today that Father Smith had previously admitted to improper conduct with young people during the 1960s. This month, a St Stephen's Parish family claimed he inappropriately touched their son ten years ago. He denied the charge, but was placed on administrative leave and told to get professional help. The Archbishop says he's giving this information to the public in keeping with the church policy to confront child abuse. We've got August 31st coming up on Tuesday, Wednesday, the 1st of September. Summer's running out, but the fair is in full swing here. Lots of people making it out today. Actually, the humidity having dropped made it a much more pleasant day today than it was yesterday. You can see over my shoulder the midway, the Ferris wheel, which has been running all day. People just having a great time, of course. The food that you'd expect to have. But one special item that occurred today was the balloon race. We got some video we want to show you about that. It was a race to start off with some of the most colorful, colorful things that you're going to see at the parade. Well, let's find out now if we need to start stocking up on on the milk and the plywood toilet paper especially. Right, Dr. Bob? Well, Richard, right now, hurricanes are notoriously squirrely phenomenon to deal with, but this one is beginning to show some distinct tendencies and things that people are paying attention to. A hurricane warning has been issued now for Fenwick Island all the way along the Atlantic coast, south into the Carolinas. So some serious consideration is being given to the path of this thing impacting upon the Chesapeake Bay area. And, of course, that means us when we get the satellite view. I'll give you a little bit more of the details of that. Let me show you what the temperatures are right now. After a day today that wasn't quite as warm or humid as yesterday. We got to a high in a low 90s. Many areas in the upper 80s right now. But the humidity was so much just so much lower. It made for a quite a different feel to the day today. Here is the satellite view and to give you an idea of what's going on right now, we do have that ridge of high pressure with the weak front that moved on through. But as we go ahead and look just to the right of your screen out off of the Atlantic Coast, there is Emily right there. And now this is the track that Emily appears to be following. As of 5:00, Emily was moving to the northwest at about nine miles an hour. It's got maximum sustained winds of 80 miles an hour, highest gusts 100 miles an hour. That's the window that we're concerned with right now. So if you have interests in along the water, you're going to be be advised of that. Here's what we're looking at for tomorrow. So far as temperatures go a day, much like today with humidity, a little bit higher, temperature in the low 90s, downtown thermometer will look for 93 or so. But by the afternoon, I think you're going to find with the humidity, it is a real summery kind of day. So here's your forecast for the rest of tonight. Mostly clear, a warm evening, but it'll cool off enough to be comfortable after midnight, 68, the overnight low and tomorrow the humidity will increase somewhat. Temperature not a lot higher than it was today, but it's going to feel more summery. Lots of sunshine. And on the five day forecast, there's tomorrow. And as we get into late Tuesday to Wednesday, again, that's the window that we're watching for for Emily. And this could turn out to be a serious situation with Emily. We'll be updating it later tonight and, of course, all the way through tomorrow with Bob and Marty. You saw him there at 630 talking about soccer on your fair farm. Kate. We had a nice time out at the fair. I've been there twice this weekend. Actually. I have a whole week ahead of a fair activity. So much fun there. Yeah, I mean, it's really nice. Anything you want to eat out here is good stuff. But when we do have this hurricane to talk about. So let me jump right into the weather. And that's an important feature here. We did have a great day. So let's start with that. Temperatures around the area right now. It's been a very pleasant evening. We're at 76 degrees and some folks have already dropped below 70 degrees. What a change with those thunderstorms that came through last night. Brought in some drier air today, made for a much more pleasant day today than we had yesterday. But we still got into the low 90s but makes all the difference in the world. That front that passed by ushered in some cooler Canadian air. This starts last night. We'll set it in motion and you'll watch the front move by.","format":"text/plain"},"target":"https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/115549/file/219430#t=2925.88,3019.07"},{"id":"https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/115549/file/219430/transcript/62307/annotation/29","type":"Annotation","motivation":"transcribing","body":{"type":"TextualBody","value":"But also look down here. That is the Hurricane Emily that we've been talking about. And you get the idea. It's moving toward the coast as we loop it through one more time, just coming into view there. It's right now 390 miles southeast of Cape Hatteras. And until Emily moves into the area, I've got some real nice weather to deal with. Tomorrow is going to be a real decent day. It looks like right now Emily will be arriving on Tuesday morning to make landfall at Cape Hatteras. But we'll make make it into our region. Getting into the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay long about 5 p.m. or so late in the afternoon on Tuesday. So the motion of Emily looks like this carries it in across Cape Hatteras, as we said, moving into the Chesapeake Bay region late Tuesday. Proceeding up the bay is the best bet right now. This could change, of course, but it's the best bet right now moving up the bay just about during the overnight Wednesday into midday Wednesday. So that's the window of opportunity that we're particularly concerned with. Once again, hurricanes are particularly squirrely beast to forecast and this may change. You're going to want to keep updated with any kind of changes that occur in the forecast. Tomorrow we'll get to temperatures in the low 90s, but the humidity will be creeping back up again. If your plans take you out in the bay tomorrow, we'll start out with winds in the southeast shifting around to the northeast. And that'll be the beginning of the influence of the hurricane. Only 10 to 15 knots, though. Waves, no problem. Bay water temperature right about 80 degrees. Now. The ocean tomorrow, mostly sunny day, air temperature, 86. Temperature in the surf, 74 rest of tonight, mostly clear skies.","format":"text/plain"},"target":"https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/115549/file/219430#t=3019.37,3115.55"},{"id":"https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/115549/file/219430/transcript/62307/annotation/30","type":"Annotation","motivation":"transcribing","body":{"type":"TextualBody","value":"You see the moon getting near a full moon and comfortable overnight low 68 degrees tomorrow. Tuesday, late through Wednesday, midday is the window that we're looking at for this thing, keeping an eye on its influence in Maryland. And to what do the Orioles owe their win today? Well, we have come up with a new catch phrase for the 93 season. When the going gets tough, when the going gets tough. The Orioles turned to Jamie Moyer. Okay. I know it doesn't rhyme, but it's working so far this year. For the third time in the last two weeks, left hander Jamie Moyer called on to stop a losing streak. And he came through once again because this team plays very good baseball behind him. Mark Macklemore, looking very cool at second base, came up with a big defensive play. Julio Franco, a line shot on one hop to mark, two cal, four for one. But Ripken's throw was wide, allowing the run to score. But it was anybody's guess how big that would have been without the good defense. From Mark Macklemore. Seventh inning. Seattle fans bases loaded for Robbie Alomar in the third off the end of the bat. And look at this ball carrier out of the kingdom. His first career, grand slam made it 4 to 1.
