But that and that's what it looks like in Fells Point this morning. See a little bit of that human haze we're talking about. And as long as we're talking about human haze, let me talk about the fog over the eastern shore. These new highs delaying the start of four school systems. Both Kent and Caroline County schools are open 90 minutes late, an hour and a half late because of the fog. Queen Anne's and Talbot County schools are opening two hours late with no morning kindergarten. And Talbot is also added in there. No morning pre. Okay. Right now, I can't be very promising about whether we're going to get much rain, but at least keeping our fingers crossed. Heat and humidity over the next couple of days. By Thursday, Friday and Saturday, we've got some autumn lake temperatures coming along from western Canada. So for today, we'll put it into words. The politics of hate behind a new populist campaigner who sought all voters without the distinction of color. Segregation in the sense of it turned out to be wrong and wrong. At the time, I was not in my mind, but this bothered me. And I wrote it in so good. Have you ever changed your mind? In this morning's medical report, there is good news for more than 2 million Americans who suffer from rheumatoid arthritis. Our health correspondent, Dr. Sanjay, joins us this morning with the good news. Good morning. Good morning, Jane. Well, the Food and Drug Administration has approved a new medication for rheumatoid arthritis called Arava. Now it's the first drug taken as a pill that's designed specifically to treat the debilitating immune disease. It's not a cure, but Arava can relieve painful swelling of the joints and even slow progression of the disease. But Arava won't be for everybody with rheumatoid arthritis, pregnant women or women of childbearing age who may become pregnant should not take it. Studies on animals raise concerns about possible birth defects. Now another drug for rheumatoid arthritis called Enbrel will be considered for approval by an FDA advisory panel this Wednesday. The drug has been fast tracked by the FDA, meaning it could be on the market very soon and will relieve symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis. But it's not a cure either. So. So, Emily, what about side effects? Our first question with you, much better side effect profiles for both these drugs. People with liver toxicity should not take Arava. Enbrel is an injectable drug, so complications related to injection may occur, but much better side effects for people with rheumatoid arthritis than current medications. Thanks, Emily.","format":"text/plain"},"target":"https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/136482/file/253065#t=1380.18,1487.27"},{"id":"https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/136482/file/253065/transcript/71201/annotation/15","type":"Annotation","motivation":"transcribing","body":{"type":"TextualBody","value":"Sanjay. The search is on for the people who did the beating and for a motive in Baltimore County. The question is why? Brenda Karl has more in this exclusive reports. WJC photographer Kurt Brooks arrives at the scene of a fatal car fire even before the fire trucks. It seems the Baltimore County Fire Department told the engine from Tolson to go to the 6100 block of Charles Street instead of here to the 7100 block at the Manor Care Nursing Home. There are still a lot of questions about the circumstances that are unanswered, but what we know so far leads investigators to believe it was accidental. The victim of the Saturday night crash is identified as 34 year old Michael Moskowitz of Forest Hill, Hartford County. Fire investigators say the fire started in the engine compartment underneath the hood at Rock Star Point. Baltimore County police say the victim died of smoke inhalation following a low impact crash in the trees here in the rear of the parking lot of a nursing home. But right now, police aren't sure exactly what he was doing here. We don't believe he worked there and we don't know why he was in the parking lot at that time of night. On the other side of the trees is the 7100 block of Charles Spring Way, the block where the original call came from for a report of an explosion, as well as a second call ten minutes later. The latest on the White House under fire and remembering George Wallace, who, of course, became a lightning rod for controversy. Those are just a couple of the stories making headlines this Monday, September the 14th. And Jane is back with details for us this morning. The political world is remembering one of America's most controversial figures, former Alabama Governor George Wallace. The 79 year old Wallace died last night of respiratory and cardiac arrest at a Montgomery hospital. The four term governor built his career as a segregationist. In 1963, Wallace made his infamous stand in the doorway of the University of Alabama to prevent black students from entering. In later years, Wallace said he supported racial equality with his presidency. In jeopardy, President Clinton travels to New York City this morning. But we do have a break coming at midweek, which by the time we get to the latter part of the week and into the weekend, we're going to feel very comfortable, I think, with weather that's appropriate to this time of year around. Incidentally, Autumn officially arrives next Wednesday, a week from Wednesday, like, what, nine days from now? So, you know, we're still in summer. So it's okay to have temperatures that are summer like. Okay. All right. Let's take a look outside to see what's going on on this midday. And you can see the haze from our tower cam once again. Maybe you realize by watching this over the months that we've had this, that looking down, the haze shows up much more vividly than being on the ground looking up. So although this looks really pretty ominous, if you're walking outside your front door and looking up, it does look like hazy blue skies, but blue skies nevertheless up to the satellite to look on down. And what we've had here, you can see some of this low lying fog and haze that shows up as the gray shadows here, kind of obscuring a bit of the sun during the early morning hours. But the sun now having climbed above that, is producing a very summery kind of sunshine today here in good old Baltimore, maybe a few passing clouds through southern Pennsylvania, but definitely warm temperatures anticipated. Well, it's out along the Mississippi Valley region area of showers and rain, some of this quite heavy and most of it representing a moisture left over from the tropical system, Frances, that produced all the flooding and some real heavy weather along the Gulf Coast. That moisture feeding up along into the midsection. The country is giving them the benefit of the moisture. We could use it here, but it sure doesn't look like we're going to get much of this at all. Best bet is maybe with the front pushing through toward midweek, we might get a little bit of rain, perhaps enhanced by that. But that's not really a sure thing right now. Subtropical high pressure over the eastern part of the country. Heat and humidity that's going to be here today. Tomorrow, frontal system here pushes through on Wednesday. Most of the energy, however, it looks like it's heading toward the Great Lakes. A lot of this moisture coming out of the Gulf of Mexico from Francis a couple of days ago, we had that tropical storm. Now that's but out. There's no real definable area of low pressure, but there is cooler weather behind this. And we are going to drop our temperatures quite a bit by Thursday, Friday and Saturday back into the 70s. Again, very comfortable air mass movement. And so tomorrow, the last really, really hot day we've got in store for you perhaps, perhaps for the summer. It's possible what to see, what kind of car. It's been so strange little that moisture come on the Gulf of Mexico stream streaming northward right out of the Gulf of Mexico, up to the central portion of the Great Lakes. And then there's that cold front dipping southward from Canada. Nice, cool, dry air mass, more typical of middle September or even late September. And that should hopefully kick off some showers. But as I said, most of the moisture appears to be moving pretty quickly to the north, most of the energy with that system. As reporter Lauren Keen tells us, homerun number 62 has landed in legal limbo. Chicago police say Brandon Cunningham is the rightful owner of Sammy Sosa, 62nd home run ball simply because he has it. I was in there and I had the ball. Despite the fact that Gary Mullins filed a police report claiming Cunningham stole the ball during the mob scene, police have dropped the case. That doesn't satisfy Mullins, who is now planning to file a civil suit. I took it with both hands. I cupped it into my stomach and I went down on the ground and I held it there for, as long as I could, a good 5 or 10 minutes. As people just shortly thereafter started reaching from every angle humanly possible. Mullins Hand is still swollen, bruised and cut up. Several eyewitnesses even accompanied him to the police station when he filed the report. Another eyewitness who watched the ball hawks from a rooftop on Waveland Avenue says there is no doubt in his mind that the ball belongs to Mullins.
