Our kids continue to have a difficult time reading and writing and computing simple math in our schools. We need to have someone get into position high because our education czar, as it were, to come into Baltimore and straighten this education system out. I don't care if it takes an outside panel. I don't care if the governor has to appoint a person, but someone needs to take over the Baltimore school system so our kids can read, they can write, they can pass the S.A.T.s, they can go to college and they can find good jobs in the state. You know, Mr. Hollis thought he was director of the CIA and not president of the school board. I mean, he's worried about dirty tricks and leaks and all this kind of stuff. I mean, we're talking about a school board, you know, that should be nonpolitical. We're not talking we're talking about a political entity. Well, I understand, which is totally dependent upon people appointing other people where if we return the power back to the parents, where they can cast a ballot and choose a school board and from among the school board, they choose their own president, then they can identify free to a common goal. And that is that our kids can read and write and compute simple math. You do have the people involved because the people elect the mayor. And one of the biggest jobs the mayor has is appointing the school board. When I was accountable. What you want to do is have a school board president go around to political clubs campaigning. And I think that with all due respect, you're not going to be here. You're on the. Analogy. You're suggesting they'd be all right if our president was a monarch and he could appoint every member of Congress. The people have power. I believe that each district should have the opportunity to choose from among themselves a representative. Let me tell you what practical purpose in order to assure that their children within that district are receiving a quality education. We're paying major bucks in this town, but for an institution which in fact is wasting the money on a hierarchy which has accomplished absolutely nothing in the last one year, two year or ten years, right now, our kids can't read.
