The barometer 29.87 rising, the air quality 52, put us in the moderate range today. Your tides, your sunrise and sunset. Now, people are complaining that it's not anything like winter in December. It's not the way it should be. Well, let's go back a year. This was one year ago today. We had anywhere from 3 to 12 inches of snow at Dulles Airport outside of Washington. This is the way we looked in Baltimore one year go today. I'd say it's about a half foot of snow, right here in the city. One year ago today, nothing like today. Yes, this was today. What a difference a year makes. Do you remember last year? That was our first significant snow of the winter last year. Today, just a lot of rain, a lot of rain as I said about an inch in the region. Looking at our national radar tonight, there's some snow in portions of the Dakotas tonight. It's moving to the east toward the Northern Great Lakes, also a little bit of rain activity over parts of Arkansas, very light. And also in the Southern Rockies, a little snow with rain mixed. All the precip generally is along the east coast. It's moving out to the east, northeast. But cloud cover remains, let's look at that cloud cover, remains well to our west. Looks like the clouds will stay with us through most of tomorrow. Some of the clearing you see out to our southwest may move into our region, but we have a flow coming out of the north. And this heavy cloud cover all along the East coast is gonna stay with this for at least the next 24 hours. Beyond that, another rainmaker is developing, another storm system developing over the central states with some snow across the northern tier. But as the storm moves to our west, it will bring up a lot of more gulf moisture, more rain expected here on Thursday. Beyond that, there is some clearing expected for Friday and Saturday, slightly cooler temperatures. Tomorrow's map shows that developing storm in the central states with snow from portions of Kansas, Oklahoma northward into the cold air with some very cold air is going to enter the country later this week, perhaps by Wednesday, more sub-zero stuff headed into the northern plains. We do not expect it to get to the East Coast. We're generally going to be getting a west to east flow here in the eastern half of the United States. And that will continue to allow this rather warm gulf air to come into our region. Tomorrow's storm, the rain, will be heading out toward New England. Slightly cooler air coming in behind the system, but unless we get a west wind tomorrow, it's going to stay cloudy most of the day. Around the state, temperatures are on the generally mild side. Even the 60s, 66 in Salisbury right now, 50s and 40s as you head further away from the ocean. Winds tomorrow, northwest, 10 to 18 miles an hour. Here's our forecast for tonight. Drizzle and some fog the rain will be heaviest and most persistent east of us and the eastern shore low around 42 degrees by tomorrow morning Mainly cloudy it could brighten by tomorrow afternoon high up to 48 low tomorrow night as it dries out 34 degrees There will be some Sun on Wednesday, but still
text/plain
https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/149180/file/273805#t=1210.2,1428.72
https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/149180/file/273805/transcript/80236/annotation/65
https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/149180/file/273805#t=1431.37,1432.43
https://marmia.aviaryplatform.com/collections/948/collection_resources/149180/file/273805/transcript/80236/annotation/66
Speaker 19: This morning it was so warm. A scene with Julie Andrews, who plays a psychiatrist, has been cut. Burt was asked if he wants children. In fact, in real life, he's considering adopting a child. Movie producers say the scene was packed with emotion and just too real. Just didn't fit Burt, they say. Movie star James Caan is getting into television. But not in front of the camera. And daytime soap opera watchers, get ready for this one. Tony Geary, who plays Luke on ABC's popular General Hospital, which you see every day. At three here on 13 is leaving the show. Gary made the announcement today saying he's on all he can playing the part of Luke, but he'll make occasional return visits on the show, as well as starring in some made-for-movies just for TV here on ABC. It was reported by Jimmy the Greek this weekend that he might be going on to the New York Giants or the Generals of the USFL. Schnellenberg today, though, says his biggest worry is preparing for Miami's next meeting in the Orange Bowl against Nebraska. Don't look for that to happen. Well, as Richard said and I said earlier, we couldn't have written a better script for our first blast broadcast yesterday afternoon from the Civic Center, but I'm sure Kenny Could have done with a little less drama than the eight seven win that Paul Kitson cap with less than a minute to go yesterday I'll tell you this was all Tacoma early on they take a 4-2 lead into the halftime break with a slam from point-blank range And in the third period, watch the big guy coming up. Stan, the man, Stamankiewicz goes right, cuts back left, and weaves his magic into the goal. It goes, it's 4-3, and you figure maybe the blast would blow away from here. But instead it was the Stars, Danko, white shoes, Durkey breaking in all alone to make it 7-5. Stars with just one win all year, but here comes Paul Kitson. Watch the replay now. He hits it first with the right foot, and then in mid-air, picks it out with his left foot to tie this game at seven apiece. And then on the kick, and the free kick with 46 seconds left, again we'll see it in slow motion. Kitson was Johnny off the spot after Whitman hits it from the point to knock it in. Eight to seven and they dodge the bullets. They come up with a win, but you know, they've got to do better than that when they meet the first place Cleveland team here coming up this Friday night. Well, after that game, they peeled away the rotting turf and played hockey at the Civic Center. The first place skip-jacks roll along with a 5-3 win over St. Catharines. Early score on here as we pick up the highlights, the jacks, Gary Rissling, the puck just slides him in the crease and he knocks it home. And then Steve Gatsos with a Jack Swarman all over the place. Gatsas here is the pluck in the rebound, 3-0 at this point. And then the biggest Donny Brook, this side of the movie, slap shot breaks out. Watch the one-on-one fight here. Tonight, police say more arrests are likely. Four Severna Park High School students were taken into custody after undercover police officers allegedly bought marijuana at the school. Officials suspect the four are also responsible for a rash of car burglaries. Two adults were also charged. They are 21-year-old John Garville and his 19-year old brother, Raymond. Close by and Howard County police tonight are on the hunt for a man who robbed a Columbia resident right outside his home. More in tonight's Metro Crime Alert. It was nine o'clock on the evening of October 11th, 1983. The homeowner walked outside to check his car for missing sunglasses. Hearing the noise, he turned and was confronted with a chrome or nickel plated handgun being held by a masked man. The victim, who was holding a flashlight, shown it on the robber who demanded money, taking $20 from his wallet. The man handed it to the robber who ran across the street and disappeared in the direction of the Phelps Luck neighborhood center. Tonight, Howard County police are looking for a white male in his early 20s in connection with this case. He is described as being 5 feet, 11 inches tall, weighing 165 pounds with a lean build. On the night of the robbery, he was wearing a knit cap, a red net on his face, a blue sweatshirt, and long pants. You walk in to any bar on East Baltimore Street and they've got guns right below the cash register. You talk with any cabbie in town, they'll tell you, of course I pack a gun. Cabbies are people who pick up strangers for a living. In America, in the year 1983, A lot of people carry guns and not always for defensive purposes. The issue of cabbies and guns really reared its head in February of 1982. A city cab driver shot and killed two would-be robbers using a handgun for which he had no permit. Bill Swisher was then state's attorney of Baltimore. His philosophy was shoot first and you don't have to ask questions later. He said he wouldn't prosecute the cabbie. A move some felt gave cab drivers the impression they had a license to shoot last week we had a cabbie shoot a seventeen-year-old in east baltimore who apparently was trying to rob him last night we had someone hold up a cabby with a shotgun on wednesday police will formally talk over the issue of cabbies and guns but what will they say guns aren't nice of course they're not nice Of course, we'd like to get all the guns off the streets.
